After one inning complete, it's 4-4.  The Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead, then Tech came right back to tie it up.  Brad Hutt is apparently not pitching well, but fortunately neither is A.J. Ramos.

Brian Smoller just said on the radio that coach Brad Hill and the home plate umpire had a bit of an exchange after the first inning.

Brett Scott just ripped a double to lead off the second inning and Tech is taking Ramos out.  Ouch.

Runners on the corners with nobody out and we failed to yield a run.  Scott was gunned down at home on a grounder (chopper) to short.  According to Brian, Scott made the right decision to run because it was a high-bouncing ball and the shortstop had to make a perfect play to get him.

So of course the next batter grounded into a DP.

Still 4-4, but Tech has chased Brad Hutt.

Cats have opened up a 12-4 lead in the sixth inning.  I'm having a hard time following it because I'm still reading about corporations, but there was a home run in there somewhere.  I'll pull up the live stats later for a full review.

...listen to the game broadcasts on 1350, I highly recommend it.  This game has gotten out of hand and has to be pretty boring, and Brian Smoller seems to be making the most of it.  Tyler Ruch came up to pinch-hit in the ninth inning, and Brian paused to allow the listeners to hear the PA announcer, who miraculously got Ruch's last name right.

Earlier, you could hear some Tech fans complaining about a call and he just let them carry on before interjecting with a witty rejoinder.

This guy is the best announcer for K-State sports.

And just as I was about to post this, Tech fans bellyache about a call and he comments "it's kind of becoming a punch-drunk crowd, if you will."  Given that it's Tech, a notorious party town/school, he's probably pretty accurate.

Great job by freshman Thomas Rooke, who relived Brad Hutt in the second inning and finished the game without allowing another run, or even any real threat of a run.

The series belongs to the Cats after a 7-4 victory in extra innings today.  Haven't had a chance to review the stats, but this was a series we had to win if we were going to have any chance at the postseason.

In fact, our prospects now look as good as ever.  This weekend's action has actually vaulted us into 7th place in the conference.  Both OU and KU have dropped a pair of games and of course we've downed Tech twice, so we currently stand one game ahead of KU for 7th.  OU is another half game back, and Tech is 2.5 games down.  

In fact, at this point we're within striking distance of the Texas team that stands 1.5 games ahead of us and this weekend has dropped a series to the same Okie State team we took two from a few weeks ago.  Let's get the brooms out tomorrow and take care of UT next week in Manhattan!
