Yes I do believe that dropping Fresno State was not the right thing to do, but please show some class about it Fresno. You have to understand the position the program at K-State is right now and have to assume this was a move to help jump start it back up to a national powerhouse it once was. Don't criticize a program when you don't have a clue.

I don't know how you were able to so perfectly hit the nail on the head.  Must be that outstanding Fresno State education.

Let's address the substance of your points.  It should be quite enlightening.

It's interesting that you brag about the opponents you play in the non-conference schedule.  How ever will you manage against Rutgers, that juggernaut that went 8-5 last year and played in the International Bowl?  Not to mention they lost Ray Rice, by far their best player, to the NFL.

And UCLA?  The Bruins, 13-13 the last two years, must certainly be considered among the elite programs right now.  You are really going out of your way to play a good program there.

No argument on Wisconsin, they are one of the better teams in the country right now.  How the hell you got them to come play on your sandpit field is beyond me.

I could grant that you're playing some relatively big-name programs, even though they really aren't that great right now, but you really don't have a choice, considering who is in your conference.  Sorry, but with Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Missouri and others in our conference, we really don't need to prove anything against "good" programs in the non-conference season.

It's also interesting to look at what you've gained by playing such tough opponents.  Since Pat Hill took over at Fresno State, your record against BCS teams is 8-20.  Even more telling, the combined record of those eight teams you've defeated is 41-53.

In answer to your inevitable retort that you have beaten K-State twice, well, congratulations.  A lot of teams beat us in 2004 and 2007.  Further, if you want to be invited back to other team's stadiums, it would behoove your program not to start fights before games, as your players did in 2004 in Manhattan.

In conclusion, you go out of your way to play "name" programs that are not very good.  We could go into much more detail about K-State not avoiding good programs, but I'll simply note that in the last two years, the Wildcats have played Louisville (2006) and Auburn (2007).  If you think K-State goes out of its way to avoid good programs based on the fact that we're dropping you from this year's schedule, I guess I don't have much to say to an argument so far removed from factual reality.  Fresno State has had some pretty good seasons under Hill, beating just enough good teams to stay on the radar, but never breaking through like some of your conference brethren.  Avoiding one game with Fresno State does not qualify as a pattern of avoiding games against good teams.  It qualifies as avoiding a single game against a mediocre WAC team.
