K-State moves up three spots in ESPN's FPI rankings

1

Make of FPI what you will, but what the heck. K-State jumps up three places from 39th to 36th this week. That's enough to move them from seventh in the Big 12 to fifth, as TCU fell from 36th to 37th and Texas Tech plunged from 30th to 50th.

The big winners in the Big 12 this week were, of course, Oklahoma State (up 7 spots to 18th) and West Virginia (a 10-place jump to 49th). Texas Tech, as mentioned, and Iowa State (down 31 to 97th) were the big losers.

TJ Ford informs Rick Barnes nobody likes him

2

That's right, Rick Barnes is, in fact, one of the most well-detested coaches in college basketball, and it's good that his former players are kind enough to break the news to him gently.

This, of course, was Ford's congratulations to Barnes on his new 2-year contract extension, which will leave Barnes in charge of Longhorn basketball through the 2018-19 season. Texas also extended the contract of baseball coach Augie Garrido, which is a double surprise; many expected that new Texas AD Steve Patterson might be inclined to clean house after flagging results across the board.

Vengeance is mine, saith the Bill.

3

Oh, remember when Ryan Mueller got in trouble for giving Bill Snyder the Gatorade bath too early at the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl?

Well, Snyder got his revenge today, nailing his star defensive end with a bucket of ice as part of the ALS charity meme. Also pictured: Tyler Lockett answering Jordy Nelson's challenge.

How'd the new foul rules in 2012-13 affect K-State?

+

I know we're all spinning up for FOOTBAW, but 247's Kevin Flaherty looked up some numbers to eyeball the impact of the new foul rules last year, and it's worth checking out. Defensively, K-State experienced a big jump, but Kevin's full article has some other interesting little details.

ESPN's 2014-2015 Big Monday lineup features eight different Big 12 teams

1

ESPN released it's Big Monday schedule today, and it features eight different Big 12 teams. Kansas is featured four times, while Oklahoma and Iowa St. are both featured three, with the posability their March 2nd games gets pick up.

O'Bannon Ruling: NCAA Loses

4

The federal judge in charge of the Ed O'Bannon case has returned her ruling, which is an injunction against the NCAA, preventing them from, err, preventing its member institutions from sharing derived revenue from the use of players images and likenesses. We'll have more on this in the days to come.
