K-State volleyball did just enough, makes NCAA tournament field

1

After losing to Baylor last night, it seemed like the K-State volleyball bubble had popped. Well, surprise. The Wildcats will head to Lincoln to take on Wichita State on Friday, and if they win then on Saturday they'd meet the winner of Friday's Harvard-Nebraska match.

This marks K-State's 16th NCAA tournament trip in 41 seasons of play, tied for 32nd among all Division I schools. Joining Kansas State in the field are Big 12 champions Texas, archrivals Kansas, farm sisters Iowa State, and K-State's purple partners at TCU. Texas is the #3 national seed while Kansas earned #9.

Texas hosts Fairfield in the first round and would catch the winner of SMU-Purdue. Kansas hosts Furman, and then would get the winner of Missouri State... and Mizzou, forced to go to Lawrence for the opening rounds. Oh, the hate.

Iowa State travels to Wisconsin; the Badgers face Oregon while the Cyclones take on Miami (FL). TCU plays in the College Station pod of the Des Moines regional. They'll face Hawai'i, while Texas A&M meets Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

K-State handles Columbia 81-71

TheBigE will be along tomorrow morning with a full recap and analysis. For now, know that the Wildcats, led by Justin Edwards and his 19 points, had five players in double figures and shut down Columbia's dangerous 3-point assault.

The Wildcats improve to 2-0 ahead of Friday's game against South Dakota, which might bring back terrifying memories of a 64-62 escape two seasons ago.

Texas A&M's Daylon Mack just pulled a Meshak Williams

You remember the above play from 2012 against TCU right? Meshak Williams tacking Trevone Boykin with one arm and B.J. Catalon with the other?

Well, Texas A&M's Daylon Mack just went ham, too.

Sexton joins Lockett in 1000-yard club

A three-yard first-down completion early in the fourth quarter pushed Curry Sexton over the 1000 yard mark. Sexton joins Tyler Lockett, and they become the first pair of K-State receivers to both surpass 1000 yards in one season.
