Weekend Baseball Thread: K-State vs. Missouri

Who: K-State vs. Missouri
When: May 2-4 | 6:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m.
Where: Columbia, Mo. | Taylor Stadium
Media: 1350 KMAN
If you feel like getting into discussions with the opponents, check in with the folks at Rock'M Nation throughout the weekend. Mizzou hasn't been playing particularly well of late, so I'd like to see the Cats sneak into Columbia and take the series. I'll take one game, too, being on the road.
Go Cats!

Mizzou is in panic mode right now
For K-State to come away with a win, and maybe even a series win, the big key is to weather the storm of Mizzou's starting pitching. Mizzou's gotten no timely hitting lately, and the bullpen has been completely unreliable all year.

It's early, and it's ugly
Not even out of the second inning and it's already 7-2, Mizzou. Lance Hogue has already been chased after giving up a homer to Jacob Priday that was, in the words of Brian Smoller, "hit eight miles."
Mizzou fans, your panic can end. Just don't put 31 runs on us, please.

Awful
Now it's 9-2. Priday leads off the 4th with a home run, then the hitter behind him pounds another one. I should keep listening to get more gems from Brian Smoller...
"A one-hand catch by a fan down the right-field line, who is EXTREMELY excited about it."
Now he's telling a story about catching a ball hit by Jose Canseco at a Royals' game, and how Jose wouldn't sign it.
Alas, there are online episodes of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" calling my name. You're on your own for a while.

Son of a...
Cats trailed 13-10 in the ninth. At that point, they loaded the bases with one out, but Rob Vaughn struck out and Jordan Cruz popped out in foul territory to end the game.
Great effort to get back in the game against Mizzou's awful bullpen, but our pitching has got to stop putting us in huge holes early. Mizzou put five on the board in the first inning.
Let's hope Brad Hutt can shut 'em down tomorrow and get us to a rubber game on Sunday.

We keep threatening...
...but we aren't getting anything. Going to the bottom of the 5th and Mizzou leads, 5-1.
We can't afford to lose games when Brad Hutt takes the mound, but he's getting hit today.

Clawing back
Jason King just jacked a two-run home run over the trees in right field to get the game to 8-5. We're into Mizzou's bullpen, let's hope we can do enough tonight, unlike last night.

Well, never mind
Because Mizzou answered that two-run homer with one of its own in the bottom of the 8th. It's now 10-5.

Another weekend, another variation of Mizzou...
...our bullpen still blows, our starting pitching is mediocre, and we've scored 24 runs in a hair under two games...

Tied 2-2, going to the 5th
Sorry, no more details right now. Stuck studying corporations right now.

Good ending
The game clearly ended hours ago (about eight hours, to be specific), and the Cats managed to get a win, 4-3, in 10 innings.
I'm going to bed.
