K-State Slate: 9.8.10

A quick and late Slate of links today. Offensive linemen switching places, Coffman's performance, the emergence of William Powell, and Lew Perkins is gone.

K-State Slate: 9.7.10

An unusually full Slate of links today. UCLA postgame, more schadenfreude at KU's expense, questioning the hate for Boise State, and our thoughts and prayers with Wyoming.

Postgame Reaction: K-State vs. UCLA

One week of Big 12 play is in the books. K-State beat UCLA 31-22, and post-game thoughts and a Big 12 roundup is here.

K-State Places 14 Players on NFL Rosters

Kansas State placed 14 former players on NFL rosters when teams were mandated to trim their rosters to 53 active players Saturday. Of the 14 players, eight are on offense and six are on defense. The longest-tenured former Wildcats include running back Rock Cartwright (ninth season), safety Jon McGraw (ninth season) and cornerback Terence Newman (eighth season). Two players from the 2009 Wildcats captured spots on active rosters — sixth-round draft pick Joshua Moore remained on the Chicago Bears’ active roster, while wide receiver Brandon Banks made the 53-man roster for the Washington Redskins as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Wildcats Sweep Through Tournament

It was an MVP performance from JuliAnne Chisholm with another double-double against Georgia Tech on Saturday night, but the senior outside hitter was quick to compliment her teammates for playing together as a unit and overcoming large deficits to build momentum. That momentum helped K-State get its third sweep at the Varney’s Kansas State Invitational 25-23, 25-18, 25-23.

Wildcats Ground Golden Eagles

The Kansas State Wildcats secured their second sweep of the day at the Varney’s Kansas State Invitational as they bested Oral Roberts 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 on Friday night. The win enabled the Wildcats to leave the court as soon as possible and prepare to play their fourth match in four days Saturday, when they closed the tournament against Georgia Tech.
