#31 Taylor Hilgers |
Position: Wide Receiver Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: Walk-On |
Taylor Allen Hilgers (Aug. 26, 1993) is a walk-on wide receiver from Manhattan who redshirted in 2013 and saw action in two games last season, playing against Stephen F. Austin and Kansas (predominantly on special teams).
I project him as a third-stringer mainly because he's only one of nine returning wide receivers to have played in a game last season, proving how thin our wide receiver depth really is. One hopes we have better options, however.
Hilgers lettered two years under head coach Joe Schartz at Manhattan High School, where he helped the Indians to go 10-1 and earn league and district championships in both 2011 and 2012, including his senior year.
He also lettered three years in baseball, earning second-team all-league honors, and four years in wrestling.
Hilgers was a four-time state qualifier in wrestling, including in his senior campaign, when he finished fifth individually and also helped the Indians to win a team state championship.
He was a prep teammate of current Wildcats Deante Burton, Winston Dimel, Terrale Johnson and Jason Lierz.
