K-State Slate: 5.15.14 - Mueller gets noticed

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Still a slow news day...

Academic Progress Reports (or APR) were released yesterday by the NCAA, and Jon Morse has you covered: K-State Flying High.

The rest of the sporting world took notice as well. This piece notes that K-State not only led the Big 12 in APR for five sports, but only eight schools in the entire country topped K-State.

The entire report for Division 1 can be seen here (PDF).

Ryan Mueller has been named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list. The award is given to the defensive player who makes the biggest impact on and off the field. By the way, IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

ESPN's Jake Trotter picks up the Sams' transfer story, while Brandon Chatmon feels K-State's offense will take a step backwards without Sams.

Meanwhile, Athlon has K-State at #20.

The Sports Extra talks to K-State golf head coach Tim Norris. He is retiring at the end of the season, after 17 seasons at K-State.

Long jump specialist Erica Twiss is the Big 12 Athlete of the Week. This is her first such award, and comes on the back of her best performance, when she finished first at the recent Wildcat Open. Twiss, the Big 12 (indoor) pentathlon champion, is now at No. 3 on the all-time list at K-State.

The team heads to Lubbock for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships this weekend.

I'm sure you're all aware of the EDSBS Bowl, a friendly competition to raise money for RRISA, an Atlanta organization that aids in refugee resettlement. Louisville is the current leader.

Speaking of EDSBS, you cannot miss THIS. But I still have no idea what it actually is, but it's hilarious.

What happens if O'Bannon wins the lawsuit against the NCAA? Well, the sky won't probably fall, but there will be fallout.

Bomani Jones notes that the college football playoffs were always about the fans, but won't help the players.
