NFL Draft 2014: Former K-State LS Marcus Heit joins Chiefs?

The Need Fieldgoals League may have a new weapon in Kansas City.

One of the quiet and unheralded stars of the K-State squad the last two seasons was the Wildcat long snapper, Marcus Heit. It's not something you tend to notice as a fan unless the long snapper is bad, so let's make it clear upfront: during Heit's tenure in the position, K-State suffered exactly zero bad snaps on field goal attempts. We're a little less positive about this one than the previous reports we've issued tonight, but according to the official Twitter account of his former high school, Heit is headed for Arrowhead. Excited, Chiefs fans?

Due to injuries to other players, Heit ended up being the only Wildcat to work out at the NFL Combine, as well as one of only two members of the team to get an invite to a post-season all-star contest. He was the top-rated long snapper on everyone's draft board. Heit checks in at 6'3" 258, with a 4.86 40, although measurables are probably the last thing you're really worried about with your long snapper. You just want him to get the ball to your holder and punter.

Well, he's really, really good at that. He also got in on some tackles in punt coverage, often downfield; that's a skill you like in your long snapper.

The only actual highlight video of Heit is courtesy of the New England Patriots, interestingly enough. We can't embed it, so click the link and enjoy.
