In honor of OU homer Toby Keith...
We ain't as good as we once were, but let's hope we're good once as we ever were on Saturday.
I like Country music, but I really don't like yours Toby. Sorry, try not selling out to the top 40 next time. Oh yea, the 4 things...
1. 1. Can special teams continue to score/prevent points? It’s safe to say this has been the most consistent group of all thus far. If the ‘Cats are to win, they will likely rely on the third unit to be a difference maker.
2. 2. Who wins the trenches? There have been numerous media reports that the Oklahoma offensive line is a patch job, and that the Oklahoma DTs are not impressive at all. So can the ‘Cats take advantage of that, or does the differential in quality of athlete make itself apparent? No doubt if KSU can find the upperhand on both sides of the line, things will bode well for KSU.
3. 3. Can the linebackers and secondary cover long enough? Yes this is somewhat related to item number 2, but to me it's sort of a "chicken or the egg" scenario. The coverage will have to hold long enough for the DL, and the DL has to get to the QB before too long as to not hang out the CBs and Safeties on an island.
4. 4. What’s the mental state of the team at kickoff? In order not to go down quick early on, this team will have to be locked down and focused. A game opening 7min touchdown drive can go a long way towards giving this team a shot at winning.
