Justin DuJian Tuggle (b. Jan. 4, 1990) had a lot of people believing last summer that he could be the starter at quarterback at some point in 2011. Well, that was before the emergence of Collin Klein. So much for that notion.
Enter Tuggle's conversion to linebacker. It was an obvious move. He is the son of the famed Jessie Tuggle, after all.
I fully expect that Tuggle made great strides in fall camp from where he was in April, and he already appeared pretty promising at the position. When spring ended, Bill Snyder indicated Tuggle was neck-and-neck with Jarell Childs.
Of course, Childs didn't play at all in the spring game and has been injured more often than not in his career. They're listed as co-starters on the first depth chart of the season, but that will last only until Childs is hurt again.
If there's a competition for the third starting spot, it's more likely between Tuggle and Jonathan Truman, whom Tre Walker indicated during Big 12 Media Days was pushing hard for playing time and shows incredible upside.
