Chandler Jared Smith (b. May 25, 1991) was expected to vie with Marcus Heit for starting long-snapping honors.

So the fact that he was passed over by true freshman Dalton Converse, who at the time was redshirting, as Heit's emergency replacement in the Cotton Bowl is not exactly a ringing endorsement, is it?

Smith earned several honors while playing at Olathe Northwest High School, and also can play linebacker, but he mostly came to K-State for the construction science program.
