Blink and you might miss him, but Jared Loomis (47) has seen some time for K-State on special teams, at least. This year, he might do even more.

#47 Jared Loomis |
Position: Linebacker Previous College: Dodge City Community College Projection: Special Teams Status: Walk-On |
Jared Edward Loomis (b. Nov. 17, 1989) is a walk-on linebacker from Dodge City Community College who redshirted in 2010 and has one more season of eligibility.
Loomis amassed 167 career tackles as a Conquistador and was named honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference both seasons.
He also was part of the 2007 state championship team for Macksville High School and was all-state.
He picked K-State for its civil engineering program. Although most likely to contribute on the Cats' scout team, Loomis' career is accomplished enough that he fits the profile of a possible contributor on special teams.
Our two-deep at linebacker is filled with scholarship players, most of them veteran, but after that, it drops off a bit.
Other than true freshman Will Davis, there aren't any contenders for third-string spots who aren't walk-ons or who have major injury histories, so Loomis has as good a chance as anybody to be one of those, given his experience.
