David Andrew Smith (b. Oct. 30, 1991) is a walk-on linebacker from Liberty Christian High School who redshirted in 2012 and did not see any playing time last season. He projects as a probable scout teamer in 2012, as well.

He was first-team all-state during his senior year after recording 93 tackles and leading Liberty Christian to the state finals. No matter what the level of competition, being first-team anything in the state of Texas is impressive.

Smith also was a consensus selection to the all-district first team and all-district MVP on defense in 2009.

In his sophomore year, he helped to lead his team to a state championship. Based on available evidence, I could make a case that Smith is among the more impressive walk-ons in recent years. I respect Texas football that much.
