I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a "know it all" when it comes to Kansas State Football. As much as I would like to be that guy who can quote hilarious movie lines and the names of every player on a particular season or recap the entire KSU history prior to Bill Snyder, I'm just not that guy. This post is simply for those who have a unique memory or reason they love KSU and what it represents. Just a chance for us to share why we are so passionate about the University and if it has made an impact on you and your family.
I was driving home and was listening to XM College Gameday and the "Experts" were talking about KSU Football and how the fan following for KSU is so passionate when they come from, and i quote, "Podunk (sp) part of Kansas."
Now I don't know about you but I've made many trips the to Little Apple and I immediately took offense to that. Sure, Manhattan may not be College Station or "The Swamp" or even the Rose Bowl but it got me thinking, why is KSU so dear to our hearts?
For me, the things that stand out are the certain players and events that have shaped the idea of College Football, Kansas State and the people who support it. KSU has given something to me that I don't know many would ever understand and it is WAYYY too long of a story to share on a blog post. But, the people of KSU, to me, represent the Blue Collar, the old fashioned way of doing things, the core of the heart land, the neighborly wave and the timely community picknics. KSU represents the sweat on a man's brow. How it doesn't come easy, but the hard work means something at the end of a day. You appreciate the work you've done for yourself. by yourself.
Sure, some remarkable plays and epic wins here and there I'm grateful for but for me, KSU and it's fans are what I believe are the epitomy of First Class.
