With the regular season completed, I thought we might have a poll for basketball awards. Consider this unofficial until someone official says otherwise. Except where noted, categories are for K-State players only.

Scoring
Select a first-place choice in each category, and optionally a second choice. You do not have to select a second choice. First choices will be worth 3 points each. Second choices will receive 1 point each. Voting closes at noon Central Standard Time on Wednesday, March 7.

Categories
Player of the Year: Awarded to the most outstanding overall player.
Defensive Player of the Year: Awarded to the most outstanding defensive player.
Newcomer of the Year: Awarded to the most outstanding freshman or new transfer player.
Sixth-Man of the Year: Awarded to the most outstanding player who started fewer than 15 games.
Most Improved Player of the Year: Awarded to the returning player who made the biggest gains from 2010-11.
Wildcat of the Year: Awarded to the player who best exemplifies the character of Kansas State University.
Game of the Year: Awarded for the game best game of the season.
Individual Performance of the Year: Awarded to the best game by an individual player.
Play of the Year: Awarded to the best single play of the season.
Opposing Player of the Year: Awarded to the player on an opposing team who was the best to watch.
Opposing Coach of the Year: Awarded to the coach of an opposing team most deserving of respect.
