Feeling quite good about this one
The Cats will be desperate, and it sounded like there was some serious butt chewing going on yesterday in Bramlage. I went to the ticket office (who thought it was a good idea to have it on the exact REAR of the building?) to buy tickets for tonight’s women’s game, and the guys were practicing. I didn’t know if visitors were allowed so I didn’t stay long, but I did pop my head in the door and it sounded like Frank was getting on to someone.
Let’s not contemplate the repercussions if the Cats lose this one, okay? No negative waves man.

I don't know what you're seeing in your HS games...
…but I think refs are making too many paint calls…either block or charge.
I had a game Thursday night – two running clock 20 minute halves, and there were 8 charges and 10 blocks called. Every time the ball went into the paint on a drive, the whistle blew.
I remember when you had to either (a) end up on your ass as the offensive player, or (b) get a couple ribs broke as the defender to get a paint call.

It's really inconsistent where I coach.
One night, we were playing this guy that just put his head down and went. He flat ran over my guys about 10 times, and the refs called one charge on him and one block on us. And then, last night, my guys drew 4 or 5 charges against a MUCH less aggressively driving team. I’d just like something of a happy medium—or at least a consistency one way or the other.

Have to be crafty when you're smaller.
For example, I taught my 5’11" PF (who’s strong as an ox, at 175 lbs or so) a little baby hook shot, that he can get off against anyone. I’m just saying, there ARE post moves you can teach to an undersized post.

Why don't we ever help wing-to-point on the penetration?
It’s an easy recovery, and a much lower percentage shot even if you don’t recover quickly enough. Post-to-perimeter help often results in a layup, or at least a put back.

they won’t lose another home game. That “offensive foul” on Robinson’s drop step was a pathetic excuse for a call. Nothing more than an official playing to the crowd.

This freshman class is special.
Angel could be the next Great KSU player. Gip will be a four year anchor in the front court. Diaz plays with tremendous energy and has the most upside on the squad. Just a great haul of a class by Frank and co.
Yesterday wasn’t pretty but was a very much needed win. Great to see Will play so well. Also really thought Shane and Jamar did a lot of very good things. Jamar isn’t a star but when he’s active he is really good. Rod will get out of this slump sooner than later and I think we go 2-2 against UT, KU, Baylor, and Mizzou and are comfortably in the tourney.
Now, let’s go Giants!!!

Get Angel a little better awareness/vision, Gip a hook shot, and Diaz some ball handling skills, and all three could be the next great K-State players
I think no later than halfway through next year Diaz is starting over JO (unless his competition forces JO to be the monster he likely should be), and Angel and Gip (it has been great to see him play better the last two games) are already starting. Jamar (and Victor’s energy) will be missed next year, but their experience is very much a net gain for the team. Add in Upshaw and Lemon Chex and wow.

I'm not as high on this class as you, but I will agree there is some upside here.
The big question is how many of them will not get run off before they are seniors? That way we get the upside too instead of just the early downside.
