RPI WATCH: 2/19/12

Note: This is a belated update covering the week's happenings that probably should have been published Saturday, but I was swamped with other things. Games from the weekend will be summarized Monday.

Once again, very few wins this week from our non-conference opponents.

The bright spots were Charleston Southern, which improved to 10-6 in conference play, and West Virginia, which gained a measure of vengeance for a heartbreaking loss to Pittsburgh on the Panthers' home court.

Attaboy, Huggs.

You know the drill: Everyone else lost. Our RPI continued to decline.

Thus, as we will see tomorrow, the Baylor win was every bit as huge as people say.

Star-divide

Overall Record = 17-8

Big 12 Record = 6-7

Top 50 Record = 4-6

RPI = 63

SOS = 72

Signature Wins (RPI 1-30) = Missouri

Quality Wins (RPI 31-100) = Alabama, Long Beach State, Texas

Bad Losses (RPI 101 or greater) = Oklahoma (x2)

Patience, young Padawan. Post under construction.

But to answer your question specifically, this is a belated update of the midweek action, since the new RPI figures won’t be out until noon tomorrow. I will publish another RPI WATCH at 6 p.m. Monday that will include Saturday’s action and the impact of the Baylor win.

Is there a record for the highest RPI ranking

For a team that was chosen to win its league in the preseason? Because, Texas A&M has to be flirting with it, if they haven’t annihilated it completely.

I wondered at the time if the coaches were just putzing around one night after too many beers (or roofie-tinis for Drew) and said "you know what would be funny, picking A&M as conference champ!"
