2011-12 Season Ends for KSU Football.. What's next?
Disappointing loss for the Wildcats but still a wonderful and magical season. The Wildcats were picked to finish eigth in the BIGXII with an unlilkely trip to a bowl game considering the non-con schedule.
Clearly times have changed. Colin Klein leading the offense to remarkable come-from-behind victories in all games wearing the "Underdog" tee to key conference victories and finshing the regular season ranked #8 as opposed to BigXII #8. And the defense keeping the games close enough for the offense to keep grinding.
David Ubben---Suck it!
Now that the season is over, what do you guys think next years demands and expectations from the fans and alumni will be considering the successful season this year. Not to mention most of the KSU football team will be returning for another magical season.
DO you think Snyder will try to implement a coverage passing attack and keeping the play action more sustained or the same ol' same ol'? We didn't see much of the offense that got KSU to the Cotton bowl. Perhaps that is a sign for things to come. Especially with the new QB recruits that KSU has on the roster that are true dual threats!

I'm not exactly sure
Why does it seem my fellow KSU fans seem adament about telling David Ubben to “Suck it”, I mean seriously of all the KSU disrespectors out there this year. He wasn’t even close to the top half of them.

It's not just the lack of love for the Cats.
Read most of the titles in his posts about the KSU football team.. If you read them a certain way they sound degrading and disrespectful.
ie: “Arkansas gives KSU a Taste of Their Medicine” - By Dick!
Besides the lack of love for KSU, he’s a BigXII hater in general! He hates covering the Big XII. He’s even said he just gets paid to cover them. To quote— “I don’t have to like the Big XII, I get paid to coaver them and post my opinion.” —David Ubben

Uhm...
That’s all you really have on him? That he’s only paid to cover Big 12 sports, because you know that’s what he’s done his entire career. Shrugs …besides you can read anything a certain way and come to believe anything out of it.

After this quote i realized how much he really
doesn’t respect the BigXII(ish)
Ubben: For the Big 12 it was all a good and solid bowl performance. But not much more. And ultimately, outside of a few flashes, forgettable.
That seems pretty accurate actually
We as a conference won all the games we were favored in, and lost the games our teams(including K-State) we were not. It’s a good, solid performance that pretty much is forgettable if you don’t include the beating WV put on Clemson.

I never understood it either, but I've accepted there are just some things I'll never understand
in the sports world. So I don’t put too much into it. I don’t have a problem with his reporting, I feel like I was a huge minority in the Kellis Kamp for awhile, and don’t quite get where all the huge Aggie resentment has come from as of late (other than like the months of July to October through the realignment junk). But I’m probably just the odd ball.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
Aggie stupidly almost destroyed our conference.
I will not forgive them for that, especially when you include a certain Big 12 championship game…

that may be, but we made it through that & i believe they set themselves back light years
& eventually will wind up in sec scandle akin to their old swc days. No hard feelings here, one of the few true road games I’ve been on & haven’t seen a better fan base to date…that can change as time goes on, but I refuse to go 180 degrees on an honest opinion just to ‘fit in with popular opinion ’round here. Besides I personally am more pissed about boren’s anticts less than 24hrs from ‘committing to the conf’

Well, I don't have any personal experiences to temper my resentment.
I was just defending my position as being reasonable, not necessarily trying to get you to change yours.

I don't mind Ubben in the least, much better than quite a few I've read over the years.
As to what to expect for next year, what ever the team accomplishes. Essentially Coach Snyder is restocking the team and each year K-State will have slightly better players, which will attract more players of better ability. This year is close to 1994 or 1995 in terms of where K-State is regarding the conference and the national stage.
Ideally we will have a change of attitude at the defensive coordinator level so instead of delaying other teams, our game plan is to stop the other team dead in the water. This probably won’t happen but at least the adult beverage vendors near K-State fans will continue to enjoy records sales.

Couldn't have said it better
Other than our “agree to disagree on Ubben” I completey agree with your assesment. I’m excited to see Klein’s arm get stronger and his ability to pass the ball get better and better.
I’ve been watching Travarius Bender’s stats since he showed intrust in KSU and have come to the conclusion that he is much like Bishop but a little slower. I’m thinking in the next few years or even immediately we’ll see the days of old when KSU could do it all on Offense and hopefully bring back the Lynch Mob if our DC would execute more stunts and blitzing schemes. Our backs are fast enough to recover the edges if the ball gets tossed on short screens. Why not send them more to put pressure on the QB.
I will say that I was throughly impressed with our secondary during the cotton bowl game. Hartman and Zimmerman played very well. Other than the burn on Arthur Brown (good match up for Ark) the game was kept close becuase of shutting down the deep routes and cutting them off!

No doubt Cosh has to go!
You need to coach to win the game, not to not lose it. His style of D might not give up many big plays but when you play the type of offenses you see in the Big 12 you will get picked apart if you can’t put a teams QB on his ass a couple times a game.
Did anybody besides me notice that
David Ubben grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas? Of course there is bias!
It's Orton Time!
Yeah I knew that...
When he first signed on he posted his Bio. I knew from that point on it would be a onsided afair if in the event should a BigXII team play an SEC team.
I figured you would have someone who is passionate about BigXII football as opposed to someone who is just trying to collect a pay check.
I’ve seen posts on here by Anon, CT, Catbacker, Meat, TB and others that have more knowledge of BigXII football than Ubben. I’m not saying he’s a bad writer. The things he chosses to cover are covered well and are mostly accurate but I can’t halp but read the dispise he has for the BigXII. Maybe it’s just me….

future coach
i hope that now that stoops is co-defensive coordinator at OU that Venables gets tired of sharing duties and wants out. We need to think about post Snyder and Venables would be my choice for the job.
Bender at QB
I heard that he has already enrolled at KSU for the spring semester similiar to what Josh Freeman did.
I will be interested to see if Sams gets any time next year
I like CK as much as the next guy, and wish him all the success headed his way b/c he deserves it. But it just sounds like the talk around Sams is quite high. Now obviously I don’t want to just discard HBCK, b/c we know what we got with him, and expect him to lead the team. Ideally I think you’d like to see Sams come in to games akin to the way James Franklin was integrated into Mizzou’s offense in the 2010-11 season with Gabbert still around, or like Blake Bell gets used down at OU. We all know the audibles and reads are the most complex thing of Snyder’s offense and I don’t want a redshirt freshman learning too much on the job, but it also sounds like there’s a whole-lotta talent in that kid, that to sit it on the bench all year long would be unfair to the kid. Even Bishop was benched for Beasly (TT) when he had a bad game, and even Beasly was benched for Adam Helm (ISU perhaps?) in their day. I hope Snyder has the confidence to throw a guy like Sams in for 3 qtrs in a game if the Honey Badger’s having 3 cracked ribs replaced on the sideline.
Again, without the recruiting class in, spring ball played and all the pre-season publications I divulge into in August, I’m setting my expectations at a 9-win season. I think it’s fair, and honestly TCU and WVU are wildcards. It’s too hard to compare across leagues. I can tell you right now, a Dana Holgerson offense running on all cylinders vs a Chris Cosh defense with 5 new starters doesn’t give me a lot of confidence at this juncture.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
weird formatting
in case you can’t read I was typing:
“Even Michael Bishop was benched for Beasley” I think at Texas Tech
“Even Beasley was benched for Adam Helm” possibly during the at Iowa State great comeback victory…when were down 28-7 and came back and won 35-28. Mostly from David Allen’s heroics returning punts for a TD.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
Appears it was vs. Texas
makes sense, if you’re going to experiment vs a team, why not the team you own?
Some figured the grooming process wouldn’t last the entire 1999 season. They anticipated Roberson would toss aside his ball cap, lay down the headset and peel off the redshirt he was fitted for last season.
But the K-State staff remained patient and never overreacted. Even at Texas, a game Adam Helm started, Jonathan Beasley relieved and the defense won. Even with Roberson available as a backup because he always accompanied the team on the travel squad.

ISU Game
If I remember correctly we were down 0-28 at halftime. I was watching the game with a die hard Iowa State grad.
