10 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Anthony Cantele
![]() |
#10 Anthony Cantele |
Position: Kicker Previous College: Missouri State University Projection: Starter Status: Preferred Walk-On |
Anthony Mark Cantele (b. Jan. 15, 1990), everyone's favorite two-point converting kicker, returns for another season of booting the laces — and this time, the job's all his. No more battling back and forth with Josh Cherry.
Cantele's stiffest competition will come from Manhattan product Brandon Klimek, who knocked a few in during the spring game, but he ought to be able to hold him off. And his younger brother, Jack, appears headed for a redshirt.
Will he be able to top his heroics in the Missouri State game (which ironically happened against his former school, where he played soccer for a year)? Or will we see a duplication of the failed effort against Iowa State? Stay tuned...

I hope he can be a lights out kicker,
like the Rheems and Gramaticas of the world. And I hope when it comes to having to settle for a 40, 42 or 45 yd field goal, we aren’t super worried about it making its way through.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
