Cale Downing Miller (b. Sept. 1, 1991) had the dubious misfortune of being born in Lawrence, but it seems he's managed to overcome that particular hurdle in life.

He matriculated at Manhattan High School and now is a walk-on member of our fine university's football team.

Let's take a moment to appreciate his accomplishment. Not all the Lawrence-born are so lucky as to be able to escape the miasma into which they were thrust as newborns.

Miller was listed as a wide receiver in the spring, but he also played some defensive back during the spring game, logging two tackles and pass breakup for the White team. His bio has changed to reflect the position switch.

Whether the position change is permanent or simply due to spring short-handedness in the secondary still is uncertain.
