Meshak Williams (b. June 3, 1991), whose highlights can be viewed here, is precisely the sort of pass-rushing play-maker the Cats have lacked since Ian Campbell's record-tying season in 2006.

Campbell logged 11.5 sacks in 13 games that year to tie Nyle Wiren's single-season record. By way of comparison, Williams collected 12 sacks in his freshman year at Hutchinson Community College. In just 10 games.

He also had a school-record 23 sacks as a senior at Worth County High School.

Basically, Meshak equals sacks.

Williams pretty much was the Blue Dragons' top performer on defense for two seasons. His four tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one sack in the spring game make me optimistic that he can do the same for us.

The word from inside sources is that Wiiliams' name might be the safest one to pencil into a starting spot in 2011, along with Arthur Brown, David Garrett and Ty Zimmerman. That naturally leads to high expectations on my part.
