44 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Chandler Smith

Chandler Jared Smith (b. May 25, 1991) will vie with Marcus Heit for the starting long-snapping honors. As I mentioned in Heit's profile, replacing Corey Adams in that capacity will not be easy.

I imagine Heit has the upper hand by virtue of being in the program longer. But Smith earned several honors while playing at Olathe Northwest High School, so I wouldn't count him out, especially in such an eclectic skill as long snaps.

He also can play linebacker, but he mostly came to K-State for the construction science program.
