45 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Mike Moore
|
Mike Moore |
Position: Linebacker Previous College: None Projection: Redshirt Status: On Scholarship |
Charmeachealle "Mike" Moore II (b. Jan. 30, 1993) is the only scholarship linebacker in K-State's 2011 class, but he's a very promising specimen who hails from the powerhouse Dallas Skyline program.
Linebacker wasn't a huge need in this class, so the coaches had the luxury of taking only the guy(s) they really wanted. They chose Moore. That should tell you something. So should these highlights.
So should the fact that Skyline also sent linebackers to Oklahoma and Oregon this year. And Moore previously was committed to Minnesota, before decommitting in the wake of Tim Brewster's ouster.
Luckily, our depth at the position should allow Moore time to redshirt and adapt to college. He definitely needs to put on some more weight. As a middle linebacker, he'll be counted upon to replace Alex Hrebec next year.
Moore collected 63 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, eight sacks, 21 hurries and a blocked field goal in 2010. He will join high school teammate Marquel Bryant this fall. They are the first fruits of a renewed recruiting effort in Dallas.

Interesting
First thing i got from the video…those guys wear almost as many different uni’s as oregon, geez!
He also played with his hand on the ground alot, i wonder if the staff wants to beef him up to play DE. The video also doesnt show him in pass coverage, which is kinda important for a linebacker, so that also goes back to my previous sentence.
It will be nice to see how he works out though, it looks like he has good vision and a good motor.
Yeah, he didn't really show off LB skills in that vid, but is clearly athletic.
Didn’t look extremely fast but seems to have a great motor. RS year should be great for him to gain some weight and the staff to figure out his best position.
I like RS years, and I LOVE the luxury of redshirt years.
All I want is a bowl game this year, but I am really enjoying how the program seems to be improving in all aspects (except for a certain coordinator). Recruiting is better, the offense has been surprisingly good considering the tools that were on hand, there is optimism, and there is money.

Yeah, he played DE in high school, but he's too small for this level. We want him at MIKE LB.
Hence, the redshirt year.
I see him more as a weakside LB
the “rush” guy, where he is more involved in pass rushing and run stopping, and only needs to drop into coverage on rare occasions. Of course, maybe he is fast enough for the middle, but if he played end in high school I doubt it.
I don't know about that
Our D-Ends in high school were two of the fastest guys on the team for a good reason. Then again we were slow in general.
