68 DAYS TO KICKOFF: William Cooper

#68 William Cooper |
Position: Offensive Line Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
William Cooper Jr. (b. Feb. 7, 1990) redshirted in Bill Snyder's second "first" season (2009) and played only sparingly last season as a reserve offensive lineman. He projects into a similar capacity this year.
Although there has been some talk of Cooper playing left tackle, his body type seems more like that of a guard to me.
I currently have him penciled in as the third-string left guard. He was not in the two-deep during spring practice.
Had William Lawson stuck around, he might have been a better fit at left tackle.
As it stands right now, we don't have anyone both on scholarship and experienced who is backing up Manase Foketi and Cornelius Lucas there.
In a pinch, I suppose Zach Hanson could slide back over, but it seems more likely that one of the incoming freshmen potentially could challenge for that third-string spot if Cooper doesn't.
Hopefully, our top two tackles will stay healthy all season and we won't ever need to find out.

Amen to that
Hopefully, our top two tackles will stay healthy all season and we won’t ever need to find out.
And you could say that for every other position too.
