#77 Colten Freeze
Position: Offensive Line
Previous College: None
Status: On Scholarship
Colten Freeze (b. Aug. 4, 1988) is the early favorite to secure a starting position at right guard, mainly because of his experience — he's a fifth-year senior who started three games at left guard in 2008 and another in 2009.
That said, some informed observers are less than impressed with his overall athleticism and are rooting for a younger player, such as transfer Nick Puetz or incoming freshman Cody Whitehair, to supplant him.
While such a move would throw a newcomer into the fire this season, instead of a battle-tested veteran, it also would carry the advantage of us returning three, and not two, starting offensive linemen in 2012.
It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. No offense to Mr. Freeze, but this probably is the least settled position battle on the entire offense.
