94 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Raphael Guidry

#94 Raphael Guidry |
Position: Defensive Tackle Previous College: None Projection: Starter Status: On Scholarship |
Raphael Guidry (b. Jan. 16, 1989), or "Ralph," as his teammates affectionately have dubbed him, is the most consistent returning defensive lineman on the 2011 roster after starting a majority of games in 2010.
One of the few Ron Prince-era recruits to actually pan out at all, much less become a full-time starter, Guidry no longer will be in the shadow of seniors such as Jeffrey Fitzgerald and Prizell Brown.
Now he's the senior, and he should pair with yesterday's profiled player, Ray Kibble, to form a formidable defensive front.
Indeed, despite the overall putridity of last year's overall defense, they have the potential to be one of the better starting combos in the last eight years or so — which is as much an indictment of those rosters as it is an endorsement of this one.

I know, but my overwhelming pessimism about this upcoming defense got the best of me
