Jason King thinks K-State will finish in the bottom half of the Big 12 in basketball next year.
I think there's going to be a lot of this kind of thing in the next 6 months. And I also think that Frank's guys are going to play with a chip on their shoulders, and challenge for a Big 12 championship. In other words, "Suck it, Jason King!"

I demand we finish dead last in preseason Big12 predictions.

I agree, who cares what predictions are, especially this time of year. This article was worthless

I agree!

Meh, he said unless certain players step up - which I think is very correct.
I don’t see any problem with his statement at all. Like Itchy said above – I’d prefer the low expectations from the media.

I got the impression (perhaps wrongly) that he meant they needed to step up to Jake levels
for us not to suck. I don’t think that’s true at all. I don’t think having a superstar lead scorer is the only way to win in college basketball.

Same here
I was worried we were about to have a baseball/basketball campus throwdown, KU-style.

Nobody
should ever use the word “blossom” in reference to a male basketball player…especially one who is seven feet tall.
This statement is 100% accurate. If Rodney McGruder and Jamar Samuels (or some other combination of players) don’t significantly increase their scoring output, we will be bad. This can be said for every team that ever loses a good player.
It's the same line of reasoning...
…used by everyone who picked K-State last after Beasley and Walker left. You obviously miss the scoring of the departed players, but there are other players who will step in and fill the void. It may take two or three players to take the place of someone like Beasley, but you can make it work.

You can make it work well enough to reach the NIT.
At least that’s what 2008-2009 showed us.
I’ve no doubt that the program is going to be great in the long run, but this team doesn’t look all that spectacular for 2011-2012.

I think I'm just being realistic.
I am sure to mention that this program will be fine for the next few years. There’s just reason to believe that next year won’t be fantastic.

Everything is so wide open, I wouldn't be surprised if we won the league next year.
But I don’t see us finishing below 5th in the conference.

I'm not going to get all sensitive about it, but I've always disliked Jason King. He's not very good at his job.

I can't entirely disagree with Jason King.
Finishing in the top half of the conference and making the dance next year would be a nice treat.

The conference will be down next year, at least at the top.
To me, it will be a BIG disappointment if we can’t finish top-half.

To steal some sense of entitlement from the birds down the road,
A top-4 finish in the conference is ours until somebody actually takes it away from us!

Or until the Cats finally piss it away like they tried to at the start of conference this year
