Oklahoma fired coach Jeff Capel on Monday after he followed a trip to the NCAA Tournament's regional finals with the program's first back-to-back losing seasons since 1967.

Capel was 96-69 in five seasons in charge of the Sooners, but just 17-36 the past two after Blake Griffin entered the NBA draft early and became the No. 1 overall pick.

I was a bit surprised

1. it’s been 5 years already

2. that he had 96 wins. I knew he had good seasons on the front end of his career (with BG obviously), but I guess if you take out 1 year, that’d be about what I thought it was.

3. will be interesting to find out if TT and OU end up in a bidding war for Gilespie. Probably won’t know until about a month from now.

Chris Level out of Lubbock

Is basically trying to say that Gilespie is a done deal to TT…

The story in OK is that OU

Is Gillispie’s first choice and has Lubbock on hold until a decision is made or he gets the strong impression that OU isn’t offering. The stalkers are reporting that the OU plane was in Denton, TX last night to interview BCG.

Don't forget about Arkansas in the Gillispie sweepstakes.

A friend of mine from a past coaching stint in Texas knows Gillispie, and I think Arkansas is going to go after Gillispie.

Yea as long as "Gillispie knows the Texas network ins and outs of recruiting"

His name works at OU and Ark as well as it does TT given their geographic proximity. One would have to think he subconsciously favors the Big 12 over SEC given his sucess.

Come on Arkansas! We all know you want some Gillespie action!
