RPI WATCH: 2/27/2011
I don't know that Saturday could have gone much better for the Cats.
In addition to the huge win over Missouri (our second over an opponent with a top-50 RPI) and Virginia Tech's upset of Duke (moving the Hokies into the RPI top 50 and giving us a third such win in one fell swoop), the only losses by K-State non-con opponents belonged to Duke (the benefit outweighed the harm), Florida (a fairly inconsequential loss at Kentucky), Loyola (a lost cause) and UMKC (which Matt Brown deserves for being such a douche).
Those were more than balanced out by Alcorn State's fifth win of the season, Emporia State's upset of D-II No. 17 Fort Hays State, Gonzaga finishing in a two-way tie for the regular-season WCC championship, James Madison popping VCU's bubble, UNLV's 10th conference victory and Virginia Tech's huge Gameday win...
...not to mention Texas Southern's continued SWAC dominance. (Fun fact: Texas Southern now has a higher RPI than Texas Tech. Your move, Kirby Hocutt...)
Regular-season conference play has ended for Emporia State (which finished 12-10), Gonzaga (11-3), James Madison (10-8), Loyola (7-11), North Florida (10-10), Presbyterian (7-11) and UMKC (9-9). Let the conference tournaments begin!

It's ironic that by beating Mizzou, we took them out of the top 30 RPI, thus depriving ourselves of a "signature win."

Why don't you...
use Live-RPI? It’s in real time and it’s free:
http://www.rpiforecast.com/live-rpi.html
I think Waren Nolan updates in real time too:
the first link
The first link is nice as it shows out of conference RPI and SOS along with the overall. Not sure it is an indicator, but it is interesting.

btw...
Those two sites also have projected RPI inclusive of conference tournaments. rpiforecast has MU with an expected RPI of 30.6 (ranked 29th) and Warren Nolan projects MU’s RPI to be 29. Looks like they’re just ranking the teams also. Sooooo, if all goes well they should be a signature win, just barely.
I finally gave up and just used the Yahoo! rankings.
If this crap isn’t fixed tomorrow, I’m jettisoning RTR for good, GAMER or no GAMER.
Don't we have 3 top-50 wins?
Va Tech. Mizzou, and KU?

Yeah, after rereading your story, I figured out that's what you were doing.

I'm showing VPI as No. 51 right now, so I guess we just have two.
Proving once again the retarded arbitrariness of that stat.

Kick save, and a beauty!
Pulled off the reverse jinx just in time to turn the momentum back to Wazzu. At this point (up 12 with 1:12 left), it would be an historic comeback by Washington.
KSU’s RPI-rific weekend does, indeed, roll on.
