ESPN hates Mizzou

Lurked on the RMN last night while watching the Mizzou-TXTech game.  It was interesting to say the least, as they kept mentioning Doug Gottlieb, I had never heard of him (I've blocked the 90's out of my basketball memory).  So I started listening to the announcers and DG was horrendous, the absolutely worse comment was about how slow the Big 8/12 was until the Texas schools joined the league.

If you want to wake up screaming in the middle of the night, picture Musberger and Gottlieb announcing a game together.

But wait it gets worse.  ESPN started mentioning how DG was going to direct the game after the half.  As the 2nd half begins, a picture of DG sitting in the truck talking (bad quality audio as well) in small box to the side of the main picture which is smaller (of course) than normal.  So not only do we have this bad audio, we also get to hear which camera the shot is from and nothing says good basketball like 'camera d 3 zoom.'  Plus DG keeps trying to provide color commentary, nothing says excellence like trying to do 2 things at once.  And his idea of a good angle for the game is bench level from the other end of the court.

This experiment lasted about 10 minutes and I think there were enough complaints in that short time period that DG went back to the announcer's table.  What made this ironic is the J-school at Mizzou is well regarded and a major media organization then does something like this.
