It's Time to Play!: Jack Gardner, Basketball and Kansas State University
Furnace76 posted a link to an old FanPost of his about Vince Gipson today and naturally I clicked on it, spurring a surprising an unexpected trip down memory lane (I must be getting old, I guess). In the comments section I noticed I had made a passing reference to Jack Gardner, which in a subsequent Furnace76 post he mentions that he had forgotten that particular nugget about the "First Jack" at K-State. Which, of course, prompted me to remember how I learned of that particular bit of KSU history. After a quick Google search to find the article where I read that tidbit, I quickly found that it was not actually an article at all, but a book, by author Steven M. Farney. It goes into quite extensive detail about the history of KSU basketball under Jack Gardner and basically chronicles the rise of KSU as a quality basketball program (Jack Gardner was the first "Coaching Marvel in Manhattan"). So, anyway, I wanted to post this link for all of you to check out. It might be a good item to add to your Christmas lists or to get a friend/relative who is really into K-State basketball.
