Farmageddon Poll 12/3/11 IA-State at K-State, corn vs wheat.
I'm not sure how anyone can root against Iowa State. They are now the Big XII's island amidst the SEC and B1G schools, so we probably should send them care packages every once in awhile to make sure they know we still like them.
With that said, I hope the Cats win on Saturday showing once again that wheat trumps corn on the football field. And thanks to all the seniors for representing K-State.
And the poll results:

I need help!
I can’t get my poll to workk on my new post. I’m trying to attch pictures too but I can’t seem to get it done. Any suggestions?
I love your stuff by the way. I just recently found this gem website and have been trying to put out quality opinionated boards. I think I’m riffling feathers a bit though..
Thanks in advanced

To attach a picture to a comment use the
to attache the image.
In a new fan post use the
which is over to the right side under media and assets.
For polls, that is located after the help and tag and links section. Click attach poll, write the question in the “Question Text”, then add new options under poll answers until you are done. I usually change the ending to about 3 hours before the game.
Also select show poll after the jump just in case it makes it to the front page.
As for ruffling feathers that is a choice you make.
TB is the one to thank for the site.

As 8 of 11 games this year for the Cats have been a 1 TD or less affair (and 7 of those were wins!), I can't vote for KSU by more than 7

Anyone know what the Vegas line is? Please say we are 3 point underdogs again.
I think we win 28-14, or something like that. Close but never really in doubt.

The site I use (sportsbetting.com)
now has us as 11 point favorites. I guess it has started to move. Would not be surprised to see the line at 9 by Saturday morning.

sounds like KMAN's line up
The tractor I drove most back in my childhood summers only had AM. The morning syndicated Johnny Dare, but the 10-2 slot was G Gordon Liddy, who I became quite fond of.

Wheat has given us
Boulevard, which is nice. Corn has given us Wild Turkey, which is the nectar of the gods. Wheat is certainly admirable, but when it comes to FARMAGEDDON, it can go fuck itself.
When it gets really cold tailgating at BSFS, do you guys corner the sheep, shear ‘em down and knit yourself a new wool sweater? I would. Then I’d have gyros for lunch.

Probably true
Never had my hand at a corn head.
But I was cutting wheat by myself when I was 10 or 11.

I'd have to think long and hard about how young I was when I started cutting wheat
but it’s been since 2006 I think that I have…
I may not be a real man for never operating a corn header, but might I suggest it takes a REAL man (or idiot) to withstand Milo dust while cutting with a cab-less combine. Yeah that’s how poor of farmers we were….
Oh it burned!!!!

so, I'm totally jealous of you
Gleaner M and N are what I have had experience with. My other grandpa was involved with helping set up the 3-I show whenever it was in Great Bend and I would help him do that. I loved going to all the different farm equipment displays and checking out all the new models.
Harvest would only last about 2.5 days on the family farm with a 9760. Not really cost effective for our particular situation…but I always wished I could have driven one (actually at the time I was helping out, the 9600 was the latest and greatest).

My family’s farm is pretty big. Plus, you just need more machine to harvest to corn. It takes a long time to get all the corn in, even running a big machine like that.
Isn’t it true that most wheat farmers find it more profitable to hire out their harvesting, hence the wheat runs?

by NormanUnderwood on Dec 1, 2011 2:02 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
I'm not really sure on the economics of it
since it is my grandparents and uncle who did the farming.
They decided to get into contract pigs, so their focus shifted a little bit. It got to the point where they might only have 200 acres of wheat in a given year, and a custom cutting crew can knock that out in a day. It would take my uncle longer than that to get the combine all serviced and in cutting condition.

You corn boys just GPS the thing these days while you watch the game on satellite in the cab.
Of course your John Deere costs more than the average house in Wichita but that is another point altogether.

Shit...
It costs more than the average house in Des Moines too.
That GPS is nice though.

On a side note,
This is why Farmageddon is the most underrated rivalry in the nation. How often does college football shit-talk devolve into a discussion comparing and contrasting corn farming operations to wheat farming operations?

My family hasn't done the harvesting themselves for about 10 years now
and it was probably 1997 since the last time I ran a combine.
And I totally agree wit you about the milo. My uncle’s Gleaner has a cab, but the a/c never worked, so we ran with the door open all the time anyway. My first milo harvest was also my last, as it closed up my nose and throat something fierce.

it itched soooo bad, but you dare not touch it, or it will just burn
so, f’n miserable. The other combine we had (both John Deere 55s) was as you described with the door pulled off and the opposing window wide open. It was actually worse than the cabless one as the dust would get trapped in the cab, where as it just blew by you on the convertible.
