RPI WATCH: 11/21/11
OK, I lied. Instead of Friday's and Saturday's results on Sunday, you get those results plus those from Sunday on Monday. Blame my workplace, which once against caused me seismic headaches and blew me off schedule.
Follow the jump for final results from the Puerto Rico Tip-Off and 2K Sports Classic. The Maui Invitational and a host of other exempt tournaments tip off today, so I will endeavor to post more frequently this week — but no promises.
Another storyline that bears watching, by the way, is the increasingly weak-looking field in the Diamond Head Classic.
Every team that played in the last three days (Auburn did not play), with the exception of Xavier, managed to lose.
I continue to maintain that the Cats should face either Long Beach State or Xavier in the championship game on Christmas Day with a reasonable expectation of winning our first exempt tourney since 2006.

I was channel surfing and I came upon the halftime show for the TCU-Old Miss game and they were interviewing the president of the University of the Virgin Islands, David Hall. I was thinking “could it be…?” and when the interviewer said he played college basketball, I realized it was THAT David Hall. He was an incredible player for Jack Hartman at KSU with a phenomenal vertical jump. I was just a kid, but he was simply awesome to watch. But, it was simply very cool to see another K-State guy make good.

Oops, forgot to update the RPIs.
They should now be up-to-date through Sunday’s action. Sorry.
Man, our numbers look worse than a SWAC team’s.
I think it's possible that the BigXII is so down this year ...
We might have to finish 3rd or better in the conference just to feel really good about making the dance. I think this looks something like a 4-bid league this year. Of course, it’s out of 10 teams.
Way, way too early to tell any of that stuff, but we ought to have a pretty good idea about the conference strength by Jan 1 and whether that will hurt us much. Of course, it’s a moot point if we don’t win a lot of games. But I think this would definitely not be the year for Frank to finish outside the top 4 in the conference.
