Open Thread: College Football Week 11
No pre-declared game of the century this week. Well, maybe Nebraska at Penn State is, but for the wrong reasons.
In the Big 12, it's a week light on important matchups. League-leading Oklahoma State has a tricky trip to Lubbock, but the Red Raiders have looked so awful since beating Oklahoma it's hard to imagine them bouncing back against the Pokes. Texas and Missouri will play in an interesting matchup in Columbia, although it's only interesting in the sense that it matches two non-Okie schools who also aren't the dregs of the conference. Baylor will look to set an NCAA record for yardage gained when it plays KU. The best matchup of the weekend is almost certainly the one in Manhattan.
The Big 12 schedule is below. Check out this week's national TV schedule. K-State's game thread will go live one hour before kickoff.
Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech, Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, Texas, 11:00 a.m. ABC
Texas vs. Missouri, Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field, Columbia, Mo., 11:00 a.m. FX
Baylor vs. KU, Memorial Stadium, Lawrence, Kan., 1:00 p.m. (No TV)

I wonder what kind of odds I could get to bet on TT beating OSU outright. OSU is 18 point favorite.
And the line keeps growing for A&M at KSU. Probably because people know little Lockett is out ):

Right now
ESPN has A&M as a 5.5 point favorite. Has there been an official announcement that Lockett is out? Cuz I haven’t seen anything…

Neither have I
However my dad told me he heard from someone whose son seems to be somehow aware of the situation that Lockett is out for the season, is now out of the hospital, and the issue was his kidney. But again, this is all just hearsay at this point.

I guess at this point
I’m just going to operate under the assumption that little Lockett is a game time decision since there has yet to be an official announcement to the contrary…

I don't even know if Lockett was mentioned
in any of the press conferences or interviews (regarding a possible injury).

HA
And this is why I don’t gamble. 49-0 at halftime? Good grief.

The more I think about it, the less surprised I would be if Tech makes a game out of this.
I mean, they are basically Oklahoma State, only a bit less talented on offense.
Defensively, they are about the same though. In fact, we scored more against OSU than we did against Tech, so they may even have a slightly better defense than OSU.
Couple that with the emotional win that OSU had last week, I wouldn’t be surprised if they play a little flat this first half and Tech can keep this close or even win this game.
Of course, so far that hasn’t been the case, and this is looking like Tech will fall short again.

OSU @ TXT in HD, aTm @ K-State in HD

Naw, it sucks that OSU@Tech is in HD
Because that game is officially over.
Mizzou-Texas is still close and could be informative. Unfortunately it is on FX, so not in HD.

And BTW
Could you design an uglier uniform that what Tech is wearing today? I am doubtful.

It was Wounded Warriors Day.
Hence the American Flag in the “TT” emblem on their helmets.

They were still ugly.
I’m sure you could come up with a better looking tribute.

And I realized it was a tribute uniform.
But as I said above that doesn’t excuse the fact that they were ugly.
You can design tribute uniforms that don’t make you want to vomit.

I am relegated to the Computer :( , fuckin ESPN3.....
I guess I should be thankful I at least get to see every game nowadays
Wow.
I can’t believe that Texas can get that kind of pressure only rushing three.
I will say, though, that if that had been Klein on those two plays he would have broken it for a first down.

Cowboy can beat LSU this year - a shootout - but I think OSU can win out
oh hail the Purple and White
OSU no defense ... LSU has defense
LSU will win.

I totally agree
Offenses always get SO rusty with a month off. OSU doesn’t stand much of a chance.

but every now and then someone becomes an exception
not saying this is the year, but what I am saying is, there’s a chance.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
Cowboy gets crushed by an LSU or Alabama.

you can have your opinion, which is probably more right
But I’ll tune in and cheer for Okie Lite regardless…you never know how many student-athletes go on academic probation with the changing of the semesters either…

HD was working now is not ... I have 1:50 to figure out how to get the antenna to work.....

If Texas loses today
All we have to do is win 1 of the next 2 games to be the favorites for the Cotton Bowl, right?
If UT and KSU both end up at 9-3, I think
UT gets the bid (that assumes UT beats us head to head). We need to win out to be assured of a Cotton BOwl bid, IMO
oh hail the Purple and White
I'd say it comes down to beat UT,
and don’t embarrass ourselves otherwise. I’m pretty sure that “beat UT” is the biggest part though.
im not even convinced that will do it.
They will want UT, unless it so blatant that they are undeserving. We would have to win 2 of the next 3 and UT would have to lose to us and A&M ….IMO
If they lose to us
and assuming they don’t comeback on Mizzou, then they are 6-4 (with 2 tough ones to go), while we likely end at 9-3 or better.
God I hope the Cotton Bowl doesn’t take them with us being at least a game better in the standings and a head-to-head victory to boot.
whenever OSU went (last year or two years ago) was the first year
last year was the first year for the Ticket City Bowl played at the Cotton Bowl though.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
I'd be cool if K-State had red, white and blue Power Cats on the helmets today.

Well, the MU/Texas game gives me a lot of confidence for next week. Jesus, Ash and McCoy are fucking horrible.

Thanks to future Big12 member TCU for taking care of the awful Boise debate
I’m usually a proponent of them getting a legit chance (like last year if they were undefeated I think would of been a good year) at a title, but this year it was such a weak argument, that the loss just puts an end to all of that hogwash.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
The meltdown over on DTN is probably akin to losing to KU with Josh Freeman being
responsible for 6 turnovers in one game.
