Quick thoughts of K-State vs. OU
A quick recap, what I thought the Wildcats did well, what they could improve on, and grades for the offense, defense, and coaching.
What I like
Nigel Malone- He had 2 interceptions in the first half and kept it close before halftime.
For more keep reading after the jump
Collin Klein- although he had a pretty bad day he was as tough as nails and he never gave up.
What I didn't like
Giving up- outside of a few players it just seemed like they gave up when things got tough and let this one get out of hand very fast.
Pressuring the quarterback- no pressure was put on Landry Jones, none. When we have a weapon like Meshak Williams we need to use it not just let him get pushed around like a rag doll.
The secondary- I was listening to the game on the radio while watching on TV and it got to the point where when Landry Jones attempted a pass Wyatt Thompson didn't even need to say whether it was complete you just knew it was.
Grades
Offense- D- - The first half was decent but the second half was miserable.
Defense- F- - Trust me if there was a grade lower than this I would have given it to them.
Special Teams- C - This was the one unit that was not completely and utterly horrible the whole game.
Coaching- F - The coaching staff had a game film from the OU Texas Tech game that was basically a how to guide of beating OU and nobody seemed to have watched it.
Note: Things may get rough over the next 3 weeks but if the wildcats are able to put this one behind them and forget what happened on October 29th things may not be so bad. But next week if pressure is not put on Brandon Weeden there will be another massacre.

it got out of hand
Cuz the team felt overwhelmed and defeated when OU had those 2 quick scores to start the second half to make it 37-17. They knew it was gonna be nearly impossible to get back into it after that and they just packed it in…
It was kind of like watching a boxing match. The bell rang to signal the start of the next round and it was 1-2-3 KO punch. At that point the match is over. But cuz there was so much time left it was only gonna get worse…a scoring drive on the first possession of the second half and it may have been a different story…tough to watch for sure.
Still…plenty to play for. The season is far from over. How the team rebounds from this humiliating display will define where we end up at year’s end.

They came back from a quick 14 point defecit in the 1st half
The game got out of hand because the defensive scheme was designed to make a bad team make mistakes. Problem is when you play a good team you need to pressure the qb and not sit back in a soft zone and let a heisman QB destroy you. Chris Cosh and whoever else put together the game plan and then made no halftime adjustments need kicked in the balls.
Yeah, I can agree with you on that one...
a 2 score game is easier to over come than a 3 score game but it sure was dis-heartening to see the team give up like that…

I'm definately on bored to fire Cosh
Problem is Snyder doesn’t do that. He can turn this team into an 8 game winner most years but thats gonna be it until he gets a real DC.
It was Ugly
I’m a die hard fan, however, had to turn TV off in 3rd quarter. Putting everything in perspective the team played above their talent level all season and I was expecting them to do the same thing on Saturday. On Saturday they played below their talent, after the missed short field goal in 2nd quarter it appears everyone gave up. Much blame to go around, however, starting with the coaching they did a terrible job of getting the plays in to Klein. When it was so apparent that we could not rush with 4 lineman and that we could not cover their receivers, we should have tried blitzing. If you are going to get “wupped” do it playing aggressively as opposed to doing the same thing over and over again when it is not successful. Also Klein has to learn to throw the ball away, several of his sacks were on him not the offensive line.
