K-State in Lawrence, week 8 poll

K-State @ TXT briefly:
Coach Snyder opened up the play book a little more in the 2nd half, while Coordinator Cosh changed from a prevent defense. That is what I think won the TXT game for K-State, along with the players buying into the team concept, improving each week and just playing really well.
Kudos to: Meshak Williams, Nigel Malone, Raphael Guidry, Tysyn Hartman, David Garrett, Tyler Lockett, Tramaine Thompson, John Hubert, Collin Klein ... actually to the whole team for continuing to play and winning the game.
Yeah, K-State didn't play perfect but we won and I'm happy that this team continues to win.
Next up is that school downriver. I see this game going one of 2 ways. K-State wins 7-0 because HCBS wants to toy with the civil war terrorists or K-State wins by a bunch because we are playing the team that allowed GT to set some school records.

To all voters -
If you’re members of BOTC, you will be forced to post on IAMTHE12THINBRED for voting for anything less than KSU by more than 7.

I voted for tie in regulation
because I’ve voted that way in every prior poll, and it seems to be working. No need to mess with the karma thing now. Because no money is riding on this, I’ll gladly be wrong if it plays any role whatsoever in this amazing season HCBS has engineered thus far. EMAW.

OU plays TXT
I’m hoping for a 7 OT game in Norman.

I'm hoping OU beats them by 30.
I want them flying high and overconfident when they come into the Little Apple.

KSU > 7
is a no-brainer. KU: They’re not good at football. Or anything else for that matter.

Don't forget to mention Raphael Guidry in handing out your game balls.
An outstanding effort by the big man.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.
I'll add him to the list
but really even with errors the team made … everyone played well enough to win.

My main concern:
the Cats have a scary history of playing up or DOWN to the level of their opponent. That could hurt us if it crops up again.
You mean like last year in Lawrence...when we sucked?

or possibly in the first game of this season.
There has been one constant throughout HCBS’s tenure at KSU. And that is beating KU. Even in our down years, he beats KU.
And Turner Gill appears to be even worse than RP at being a head coach.

^and that statement^
Isn’t meant to be an insult, just cold hard fact. But man does it sound harsh.
"Nor yet in Dell?"
I know. I wasn't trying to be mean
but statistically, it is completely true. RP at least took us to a bowl in his first season.

More and more I want to credit Raheem Morris for that one.

^ This
I’m torn between, if Morris stayed around we would have been better, but HCBS wouldn’t have come back.
Nevermind, not torn. Glad HCBS is back. Would have preferred Morris as DC over Cosh.
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice. Let them wonder how the F*ck you did it.
Maybe, if Raheem could have become head coach
it could have worked.
But he went to the NFL (I don’t blame him), and that was not a possibility, so there is no need in even speculating.
I am glad the way things have worked out so far. I’m just really curious why we had the big recruiting dropoff after the 2003 season. That was not fun to watch. Or was that an “entitlement” issue after winning the Big 12?

I've always wondered that as well.
Seems like something of the “soul” of our program left when Snyder threw Ell under the bus.
"An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come." *Victor Hugo*
How exactly was Ell thrown under the bus?
I mean, he DID actually start in the Fiesta Bowl.
And there WAS a female in his room after curfew, correct? The “no consent” thing turned out to be bogus, but there was still a breaking of team rules that took place, if I’m not mistaken.
I DO find it interesting that the program took a huge step backwards after the Roberson/Sproles show. I mean, to me, it still seemed like it would have been pretty easy to get good guys to want to come play for us after we had just taken down “one of the greatest college football teams of all time” in such a dominating fashion.
After the 2005 season and Snyder had left, it was understandable. But I’m still scratching my head as to how we ended up there in the first place.

Well, Snyder pulled his scholarship for the Spring semester
That is a little bit like throwing him under the bus. After he was done ‘using’ him he didn’t need him anymore so he could punish Roberson in a way that would not jeopardize his own chance at winning.
At least, that is a way you could interpret it. I could go either way right now on that.

I was not aware of this
That does suck just a little bit.
Like I said though, I think there WAS a violation of team rules that had taken place, just not as big as they were made out to be the morning of the Fiesta Bowl.
I’m not sure how I feel about the whole situation.
I’d rather focus on how we are doing right now. EMAW!

Let's focus on the present
I’m sure if he ever talks about it HCBS would say the Roberson incident was a big factor in the ‘04-’05 drop-off. Might have been handled differently, but it wasn’t. There were no easy answers on the deal. The fact is that Roberson, as a senior leader, let his team down in a big way. I think that “not letting the team down” thing has sunk in to guys that are on THIS team.
So, I for one, promise to never bring it up again.
Time to move on.

Spent hours last night reviewing KSU game recaps on ESPN.com
Especially the 2004/5 seasons. What got me was how often we made stupid mistakes or turnovers, then had to fight to get back in the game only to lose it again in heartbreaking fashion. Seemed like HCBS was just tired of it all then, and was maybe resting on his laurels. I too wondered why there was such a big drop off in talent after 2003. I’m just thankful that HCBS could take his sabbatical, come back refreshed with players that are willing to buy in. Lets enjoy while we can. Anticipation for Saturday’s games dominates my week. Now I know why my grades were always worse in the fall, waiting for the ‘80-’83 KSU games!
I didn't know that ):

Yeah, this changed my perception of Coach Snyder some.
"An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come." *Victor Hugo*
I don't think he started
As I recall, he sat out for the first quarter. Not much of a punishment, I know, but it could have been the difference in the game.

Yeah, he started
You wouldn’t be able to tell by the way he played the first half, though.
