K-State's Big Monday win over Baylor was a much-needed breath of fresh air, as well as the Cats' first "quality" win since the Washington State game (although I wouldn't get too excited just yet — Baylor is one ugly loss away from falling right back into the triple-digit RPI range).
Unfortunately, it also was the only thing to go right, bubble-wise, last night. If you watched SportsCenter, you know it's never a good sign when the teams we played make the top 10 plays for buzzer-beaters and spectacular individual performances against them.
That's what happened to James Madison (suffered its third straight conference loss by two points, in overtime, on the road, on a desperation heave at the buzzer, and made Hofstra guard Charles Jenkins look like a highlight reel in the process) and Texas Southern (lost its first conference game of the season and gave up a slew of MVSU dunks).
Alcorn State also lost, too, but hey, nothing new there.
