Why K-State Should Walk Out During the Pre-Game

Earlier this year, Baylor caused a ruckus when they (gasp) walked out during the KU pregame video.

You know, the one "that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck and highlights the Jayhawks’ rich history, from Naismith to Allen to Self.*

But, just to let you make that judgment for yourself, I've done you a favor and posted it here.  Watch at your own peril.

* That was literally the stupidest thing I've ever read in an actual newspaper.

Somewhere Dean Smith is Chuckling to Himself

No better place to coach…I suppose North Carolina would have something to say about that. I mean when Dean was there it surely was more daunting to step on to the court in the Center named after the man himself standing on the same sideline as your own. KU does not own the franchise on college basketball history but they sure think they do.

Well Larry Brown said it

And he played at UNC for Dean Smith and coached at UCLA too, so he might know of what he speaks.

every coach

says stuff like that, no matter where they are, no matter if they mean it or not. Not saying that Brown didn’t mean it at the time, but ask him that question today and see what he says.

On a side note, anyone else think its retarded this game isn't getting national coverage?

They couldn’t tell that this was going to be an important game at the start of the season?

They had a thing last night on the Texas game it said “What 2 Watch” and they showed a bunch of info about the game Wednesday, and then it said “on ESPN360”. what a joke. Two top 5 teams and a share of the conference championship on the line.

Especially

when the first game is featured on ESPN Gameday….

I hope someone gets fired for this.

You'll never see this again, that much I can assure you

Next year, at least one of these games will be Gameday, and the other will be Big Monday.

I bet we have a minimum of three Big Mondays, actually, because both Texas and Oklahoma are gonna lose a few after this disaster of a season.

Man I hope so

Maybe they’ll televise a few more against the northtards….

So, i watched uk's video

good, but aside from the titles, its not anymore impressive than K-State’s. Lots of history in uk’s vid, not much recent stuff outside of the recent title. I always thought K-State could show more history, like the ’58 game where Boozer outplayed Chamberlin, but its still a good vid.

I actually went to the KU Baylor game at Allen this year.

The video is good but the point I want to make is that haven’t we all watched plenty of “pump up” videos at the start of Big 12 football and basketball games?

These KU fans just got a new scoreboard that has hi-def so they have been out of the game for awhile. Previously they didnt see any video. Just flashing lights of red white and blue colors. I just tell KU fans “it’s been done before” and “I’m not really THAT impressed”.

Its a friggin video, so why would it matter if Baylor leaves the floor to get a couple extra minutes to talk about the start of the game. Obviously it helped because Baylor almost won.

Because it is 'disrespectful'

You can’t do something the home team dislikes, especially when it makes Bill Self cry.

Next time at Allen Fieldhouse...

Baylor gets the Clockwork Orange treatment.

I Would Like

to take the word DISRESPECTFUL out of the English lexicon. I can’t believe real Americans actually adopted this ghetto term and made it their own. For God sake, can we all go back to speaking the real English language.

And I agree with one of the previous posts. I can see why a team would want to spend that 3 or 4 extra minutes prepping themselves mentally instead of watching the home teams BS. Somehow or another, I don’t see that as DISRESPECTFUL. Nor do I see staying there as RESPECTFUL. There may be a certain lack of respect by the home team in shoving four minutes of crap down your opponents throat.

I hope the Cats shove this crap down KU’s throat tomorrow night.

I hope the boys walk out

Anything that will piss of KU and Collins makes me happy.
