OPEN GAME THREAD: Super Tuesday
This went so well last night that I thought I'd do it again tonight. Since none of these games really affects the Cats, I find watching them to be slightly more tolerable when I can discuss them with other like-minded individuals:
Interesting games on the docket tonight include:
6 p.m.
- No. 7 Georgetown at Providence (ESPN2)
- Boston College at Wake Forest
- Illinois at No. 11 Wisconsin
- No. 12 Tennessee at No. 22 Vanderbilt (ESPN)
7 p.m.
- Texas Tech at Oklahoma (Big 12 Network)
8 p.m.
- No. 6 Purdue at No. 10 Michigan State (ESPN)
- Alabama at No. 3 Kentucky
I'll probably be flipping back and forth between whatever's on ESPN and the OU game.
The latter especially is interesting because Andrew Fitzgerald and Steven Pledger likely will be held out for their shoplifting incident on Saturday, Cade Davis is suffering from bronchitis, Tony Crocker has a hip pointer, and Willie Warren still has both ankle and ego issues.
So I'll be fascinated to see if the one-man show named Tommy Mason-Griffin can prevent the Red Raiders from collecting the sweep, with the occasional assist from Tiny Gallon.

A caveat
Although the OU game is on the Big 12 Network, it’s not on in my area (Cox in south-central Kansas) for some stupid reason.
So I’ve got it up on ESPN360.
Texas Tech 25, Oklahoma 23
Pretty back and forth.
Saturday, it was Wayman Tisdale. Tonight, will the magic of Blake Griffin’s presence be enough to put the Sooners over the top.
So is Tenn good or bad?
I’m still not sure what to make of them. They are the only team this year to beat KU… but they’re getting crushed by Vandy. I have no clue about them.
At home, Vandy is very good
And their court is exceedingly hard to play on.
I don’t think the Volunteers are as bad as they look tonight, but I also don’t think they’re as good as they looked at home against a flat KU team.
OU was doing good
Until Warren came in for TMG. Selfish player has completely stagnated their offense.
Here's a question for the bball man
When was the last time KSU shot >50% in a non-scrimmage (South Dakota doesn’t count)? Georgetown smashed Nova and shot 60% I think. Do you think it is possible for the Cats, in this offense, to shoot like Illinois is at 55% against a big foe?
HA! 49.2%
Well, close enough. I suppose I answered my own question checking out the box scores from the UT, KU, Baylor games. The bigs have to do their part since Clemente and Pullen are sometimes pretty off.
With the way we play defense and rebound
I think shooting better than 40 percent usually will be enough.
Bettering 45 percent makes us nearly unbeatable.
Illinois upsets Wisconsin 63-56
Wow. The Illini really want to go dancing.
So much for all the Wisconsin lovers in the Power 16. Don’t think I’ll be including them this week after all.
Jeez
OU got it back within 5, but Singletary hit a buzzer-beating 3. Ouch.
And then TMG hits a 3 and gets fouled, so they’re still in this.
Crocker single-handedly getting OU back in this
Made several shots and just took a huge charge from Singletary. OU ball, down three. Crowd actually making noise. Good game.
Weak sauce
OU went for a 3 and missed.
Jeez, throw it in to Gallon or something.
Tech’s first road win since ’08. And they just swept OU.
KSU got some love
from the commentators during the Alabama/Kentucky game. They said they liked what was going on with the program and seeing them do well.
Looks like Purdue will hold on against Michigan State
Suddenly, road teams are breaking home winning streaks everywhere.
MSU, Wisky and OU all had won more than 10 games in a row at home, I believe.
Crazy.
And on that note, I’m heading to bed. Got a long day tomorrow.
