RPI WATCH: 2/7/2010

Something tells me Rick Barnes wasn't coaching his players to stand around and watch Cade Davis take it to the rack. But that's what happens when the ghost of Wayman Tisdale haunts a game.

Almost half our opponents played each other Saturday. Those games basically were a wash for our RPI, but for perception's sake, it was important that certain teams beat others and keep themselves in the NCAA Tournament discussion. In all cases, I think the matchups worked in our favor:

  • Cleveland State 59, Loyola 56
  • Dayton 90, Xavier 65 (Xavier previously beat Dayton, which faced a must-win situation at home to stay on the bubble)
  • IUPUI 70, Western Illinois 42
  • Kansas 75, Nebraska 64
  • Missouri 84, Colorado 66
  • Oklahoma 80, Texas 71
  • Ole Miss 74, Alabama 67
  • Texas A&M 78, Baylor 71
  • Texas Tech 81, Oklahoma State 74

But it also was a costly weekend — Alabama, IUPUI and Washington State all fell below the 100 threshold in the RPI.

Now it's double or nothing for K-State — all of our RPI Top 100 wins also are RPI Top 50 wins.
