A little football love

A few things that have happened over the past couple days in the realm of BSFS that I noticed didn't get much love...

Star-divide

Joshua Moore has decided to forgo his senior season and head to the NFL. (From all sorts of sources but let's give the ol' Collegian the love: http://www.kstatecollegian.com/sports/cb-moore-declares-for-nfl-draft-1.2139805)

College football signing day tomorrow with Wichita Northwest RB Demarcus Robinson expectedly headed our way

Miami LB and Rivals #1 recruit Arthur Brown has left the team and returned home to KS. Not too much info besides that...but the dream is still alive!!

(Both from Kansascity.com:http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/1724375.html)

Demarcus Robinson

Rivals is showing he has signed his LOI. Excellent. After the Batts to Washington debacle last year, I was relieved Demarcus kept his word…unlike that bastard Tony Mitchell…..

Signing day

Wasn’t there a thread up last year?

by powercat34 on Feb 3, 2010 9:54 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

There was

and MadCat and I destroyed it. Not much hype this year. A lot of hype over who Bill was going to bring in.

And here is the official release for this year: PDF download

You can get the updated Rivals

commitment list here.

And as of 10.10am, we are currently have the 60th ranked recruiting class…

Ranked 60th

due to a small class. Our average Rivals stars puts us around 8th in the conference – rather than 11th in overall points.

Colorado is stumbling. Way to go Hawkins.

Damn, even Baylor is putting a better recruiting class than us...

Something tells me

that Baylor isn’t going to be the laughingstock of the conference anymore. See: Colorado, U of.

Or KU

No more Fanman-gino, and I don’t buy that Gill can cut it in this conference.

K-State operates on such a time deficit when it comes to recruiting...

with grayshirts and transfers, etc. It’s difficult to gauge the class according to Rivals (17 signees) versus the official K-State site (28 signees)

Art Briles is doing a bang up job in Waco.

Give that guy a few more years and he’ll be winning consistently.

I don't know about winning consistantly

since he has to compete with all that money in the south. Going 1-4 or 0-5 in the south seems like a mainstay for them. He can get them to a bowl game, but I think a 7 win season is the ceiling for the team down in Waco.

I noticed

we’re picking up a lot of Kansas kids – unlike the Ron Prince years.

Texas

has more 4-5 star recruits than we have total recruits….

Sure they do

Let us be honest, if you had a free ride offer to live in Manhattan or Austin, which would you pick? However, when KSU beats them again this year, the kids may think differently.

by Sean T on Feb 3, 2010 12:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

On a note totally unrelated to KSU

I hope (sadly) that Seantrel Henderson fails. I can’t stomach so much hype for a kid yet to play a down of D1A football. Same thing with that Willie kid at Miami. Earn it before you get the hype.

by Sean T on Feb 3, 2010 12:54 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

But then it isn't hype anymore,

it’s just evidence he is really good, or not really good. ;-)

Do you mean Willie Williams?

The one from several years ago that already had a string of arrests on his record before he even set foot in Coral Gables?

Chris Harper

Is he considered part of this class or last year’s? Anyone know?

by Catbacker98 on Feb 4, 2010 6:59 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Neither. He's a transfer, not a recruit

At least, I would think so. I don’t think Fitzy, who finally played this year, counted as a recruit. But yet, hey, at least he’s where he should have been all along.
