RPI WATCH: 2/28/2010

One thing I particularly love about this time of year is that as we get closer to March Madness, teams become increasingly desperate not to lose.

A symptom of that trend is overtime games.

There were a freakish number of overtime games Saturday — five games went to one overtime, four went to two overtimes and one even went to three overtimes.

The crazy thing is that almost all the games involved teams with no hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Nonetheless, no one wants to lose this time of year, which just helps contribute to the March feel.

The trend continues today, as there already have been three overtime games and one double overtime game. Jeez!
