Exhibit A for knowing you have good fan support on the road
If a blogger for the opposing team writes an entire post complaining about how enthusiastic the opposing fans were, it's probably a good sign.

what is with the widespread notion
that KSU should not win in anything?? It’s like it’s a crime against humanity if they excel in anything. Oh well, like TB said…it’s a good sign.
What made me giggle
was that a football game from sixteen years ago (when we’d played in all of two bowl games ever) is a KU fan’s evidence that we don’t know how to win now.
What a stupid chickenhawk.
This space for rent.
"complaining about how enthusiastic the opposing fans were"
Consider that Big 12 South Basketball. You’ll never be able to hear opposing fans in the Phog, MU, or even at Hilton.
OU fans should blame only themselves for letting an opposing team take over the arena. Period.
Surgeon General's Warning: K-State-Mizzou basketball may increase the risk of high blood pressure. Please consult your doctor prior to watching any of these games.
And to be fair...
…the blog’s manager said the exact same thing.
I love the comparison the other commenter brings up from 1994. Guess what? You’re damn right we didn’t know anything about winning in football in 1994. We had been named Futility U a mere six years prior to that. Congrats on the comparison, but that was when I was in fourth grade. It’s time to move on.

I read that comment as well.
I couldn’t help but remember a similar time a few years back when KU rushed the field after defeating a mediocre KSU team. It goes both ways. Fans wouldn’t go any game unless they were excited about seeing a team win!
2 things...
…
1) At BSFS, after an OU victory, doesn’t the entire southeast end stay and cheer on the team, “boomer sooner”, etc…? I don’t see that as classless, nor do i see a whole post about it the next day online. They are just congratulating their team for a job well done. That whole post seems like sour grapes to me.
2) The fact that the 1994 incident was brought up by a KU fan. Didn’t Lew Perkins have to start buying goalposts at Sam’s Club after the 2005 season? Are you really going to post that comment after your fan base tears down goal posts after every first down?
Isn't that the fans job at an away game?
To annoy the hell out the home fans and try to let their team know that they’re still around? And some KU nitwit complaining about how we act in Lawrence is insane.

Maybe this is a semantical nitpick...
…but when I go to opposing venues, I go with the sole purpose of watching and cheering for my team. Some opposing fans take that as annoying, and if so, then so be it. I’ll engage in a little friendly smack-talk if someone else initiates it, but I never start it.
I have no problem with what the K-State fans did yesterday, and I wouldn’t have a problem with it if it occurred at Bramlage or Bill’s House. It’s easier to look outward and blame others, but usually the blame lies a little closer to home.

By annoying the home fans...
All I meant was cheering on your team, not actually shit-talking.

Umm...now I have read it all.
Well I read the whole diatribe and could not help but think the writer’s angst was sorely misplaced. A better served article could have been titled, “Why the hell do we leave early?” Ultimately it is OU’s fans that needed to be called out for either not staying for the entire game or worse yet not showing in the first place. If I was in attendance as a K-State fan I sure as hell would have relocated to a better seat behind our team to cheer.
I love the comments from the KU grad regarding how we have no expectation of winning or rarely win anything. I mean that almost decade of domination on the gridiron must have been a rare occurrence. Perhaps this past year’s win is fresh in their psyche and so another spirited salvo needed to be penned. (And no I was not a big fan of tearing down their goalposts as it was just tasteless and unnecessary.) And to the sole OU fan who was in agreement I say 2003. I hope both of your programs have enjoyed the irony of winning with former K-State assistants.
As a closing thought I would offer this quote in exchange for the one that was posted as it is more apropos:
A tough day at the office is even tougher when your OFFICE contains spectator seating.

The whole article/debate seems rather silly.
If you go to a Royals/Yankees game, you’ll see Yankees fans cheering. Chiefs/Raiders games. Any away game in college sports, you’ll see fans of the opposing teams cheering regardless of if they are undefeated or 0-20. It doesn’t sound like KSU fans were acting any differently than when Mizzou fans were chanting MIZ-ZOU at the end of the KSU/MU football game this year. That didn’t inspire me to go write an article about it.
When articles like this could be written are when fans act like poor sports and throw things on the court/players/refs etc (like the Mississippi State/Kentucky game a week ago).
I was at the game Saturday...
and in my opinion, everyone was being very respectful to the OU fans. We just wanted to cheer on our team and we wanted them to know we were there. I totally agree that I would be annoyed if the same thing ever happened in Bramlage, but I would have no one to blame but the K-State fans for not selling it out and staying.
I remember when KU used to be able to get a Rock Chalk chant off in Bramlage and it was terribly embarrassing. Thankfully, in recent years the K-State fans have been buying more season tickets and showing up instead of letting the Jayhawks take over. Could we really make an argument that the KU fans were out of line then – no. It was our responsibility to protect our home and we didn’t do it.
The argument that we were acting like we’ve never won before doesn’t make any sense to me. So if you’ve won before you’re not allowed to do the K-S-U chant and sing the fight song? Really? How is that EVER inappropriate?
I knew it was going to be a good day when almost everyone we saw on the streets downtown was wearing purple. It was great to see that many fans travel to an away basketball game. Proud to be a Wildcat!
