Around SBN: SB Nation interviews Jerome Bettis

RPI WATCH: 2/12/2010

Please bear with me. SBNation is having serious technical issues today, if you haven't already noticed.

Some thoughts on Thursday night's games:

  • Western Illinois pulled off a monster upset by winning at Oral Roberts. Remember, ORU beat Missouri and New Mexico at home earlier this season.
  • Ole Miss simply is falling apart at the seams. 5-5 in the SEC will get you left out of the NCAA Tournament when you're in the sorry West Division, especially when you lose twice to equally mediocre Mississippi State.
  • IUPUI won at Centenary. Why is this significant? Well, for a day at least, the Jaguars popped back into the RPI Top 100 and boosted our resume in that area.
  • Want to see a tumble worse than Mississippi's? Look no further than Washington State. After blowing a 15-point lead at Stanford, which is one of the worst teams in one of the worst conferences, the Cougars fell to 5-7 and 120th in the RPI. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

BC, why do you never bring good news?

I’m kidding. You can’t help it, and I always appreciate the updates. Thanks man.

How's this for good new?

West Virginia’s loss to Pittsburgh tonight completes an 0-2 week for the Mountaineers and means we have to really stub our toe not to get a No. 2 seed.

But but but but....
  1. in OKC! I know the higher seed the better, but dammit, I want to go to an NCAA tournament game! Especially over spring break.

Oops, had to make one alteration

Fort Hays State played a game Thursday that I missed until now. My bad.

There will be no RPI WATCH today, because none of our opponents played Friday night (although the Pittsburgh-West Virginia game was of great interest to us for other reasons).

Look for its return tomorrow at 6 p.m.
