So as a laugh I sent the following email to Jeffrey Martin, legendary KSU beat writer:
Dearest JMart,
Please explain your recent vote of #7 for our beloved KSU Wildcats on your AP Ballot. Please be advised your response will most likely end up on BringOnTheCats.com as we are more hurt than upset.
P.S. PLEASE COME BACK!!!! This Beaker who took your place is horrible.
Thank you in advance,
Blackcats
I honestly never expected a response, BUT he never fails to deliver:
Every school ahead of K-State on my latest ballot is undefeated, so that’s a good place to start. Duke, Ohio State, Syracuse, UConn and Tennessee have all beaten at least one team I felt was at one point this season Top 10 quality. And at the moment, strictly by the eyeball test as I’ve seen K-State twice in person and Kansas once, I think KU is better.
Yes, K-State lost to the No. 1 team in the country, which is hardly a crime. But the highest I ever had the Cats was No. 3, and dropping them four spots after falling on an alleged "neutral" court is fair, I think. I didn't think K-State needed to be moved up this week after struggling in Chicago against Loyola, although I applaud the Cats for even playing that game (I know, it was Jake’s homecoming, but Top 10 teams usually don’t feel they have anything to gain by playing a mid-major in its gym).
As for the P.S., I suggest you direct your correspondence to the Wichita Eagle.
Curse his sense of reason!!
