Looking ahead to 2011

Ok, Ok I know, there really is no need to look ahead to 2011 when this year's team has so much more to accomplish.  So with that being said, I promise it has nothing to do with "how much better we'll be" like we were so accustomed to do with the last three seasons of not going to a bowl game.  So stick with me after the jump to see what is so intriguing to me for the 2011 season.

As we were at the game last night, it dawned on me that we are going to have a probable boat-load of starters of the 22 that are from Kansas.  I'm guessing, although I have to be honest I probably follow rosters a little closer now that I have the internet, and don't have to worry about school-work or anything as compared to years in the past, but I'm guessing this could be the most overly loaded Bill Snyder roster with Kansas kids that has quite a bit of talent.

So let's see here are the possible starters from KS in 2011:

FB - Braeden Wilson, Smith Center

WR- Brodrick Smith, Garden City

WR- Chris Harper, Wichita

RB- Bryce Brown, Wichita

RB2- DeMarcus Robinson, Wichita

LB- Arthur Brown, Wichita

LB- Tre Walker, Olathe

S1- Ty Zimmerman, Wichita

S2- Tysyn Hartman, Wichita

OL1-  Ethan Douglas, Basehor

TE- Travis Tannehill, Olathe

OL2- Nick Puetz (Wyoming transfer), Salina

OL3-  *Cody Whitehair, Abeline*  New HS recruit

DL- Jordan Voelker

As I count that's 14 of 22.  Granted you don't normally list two running backs as starters, so 12 is a little more like it, and who knows if the the last 3 listed will be starters or not, but I think I remember Voelker's name getting tossed around when it looked as though we were thin on the DL earlier this year, but I think just about everyone else is a possibility, and there are plenty of other KS kids who could step up in the off season.  In the past, having that many KS kids would probably scare the average K-state fan, but there is some legitimate talent in that list of names above.  Not to mention Cantele, or the Derby KS kicker will probably be full time next year so there's another KS guy.  Another weird thing is a lot of the other open spots could be filled in by CO, OK or MO weird is that?
