They got whatever they got, and they decided not to come. That's OK. I don't have anything to say about that.
...
I've said all I'm going to say. I've had all kinds of e-mails over the years. It's not a problem.
"Dr. Tom" Osborne, when asked to comment on the death threats, threats of violence, and targeting of Dan Beebe's daughter on Facebook by angry Nebraska fans. Looks like the "classiest fans in America" come by their "class" honestly.

Can you believe this stuff?
Osborn’s quote: “They got whatever they got, and they decided not to come. That’s OK. I don’t have anything to say about that.
…
I’ve said all I’m going to say. I’ve had all kinds of e-mails over the years. It’s not a problem.”
The message being sent to his fanbase: threatening emails are ok. Keep it up. I wish Beebe would suspend the Pelini brothers from their antics in the aTm game.
oh hail the Purple and White
Bingo
My reaction was the same. This is a pathetic statement for a school and a program that claim the mantle of “class”. Well, perhaps they do have class: third class.
Guess they get their cues from the Pelini brothers who reek of sour grapes and whine over every loss?
And to think up until around June when Perlman and Osborne sold their souls for some Big-10 (er, “Ohio State and 10 sorry bridesmaids”) TV money and to avoid losing to Texas I thought Nebraska truly was a class act…how foolish I was.
You will get no argument from me,
on either point. Osborne has shamed himself in the past year, in ways I never thought possible. And the Pelinis are just despicable.

I just think this is funny
Husker Fan Last Week: F*** you Big 12! Why don’t you and your stupid officials just leave us alone? God I can’t wait to go to the Big 10!!!
Husker Fan This Week: F*** you Big 12! Come give us our trophy that we just won! God I can’t wait to go to the Big 10!

Actually, it *is* a problem...
…when your fan base is making death threats and involving a man’s children, and you don’t come out strongly against it. Like Beebe or not, Osborne’s silence is as reprehensible as the actions themselves.
These events just solidify my belief that we’re better off without nubb. Can’t you just sense how excited the Big 10 is for Dr. Tom and his merry band of thugs to show up?
You know, I always admired Osborne.
But this last 11 months has completely sullied my view of the man.

Not sure of the the best response
I’d expect a school to issue a blanket condemnation, and even to offer to provide security so there was a trophy presentation.

On the one hand...
…I do think Beebe overreacted and probably stayed home just so that The Savior of the Big XII wouldn’t be booed on national television.
On the other hand, anything that tweaks the Nubs fanbase and exposes them is fine by me.

can I be 24?

Check out this comment from the CornNation thread
Some guys were posting about Iowa losing to Minnesota. Someone said the Iowa fans are calling for firing Ferentz. Then this Nub posts this:
“iowa fans are terrible
any time they lose, its someone elses fault, this time they are blaming the entire coaching staff and saying that stanzi should be benched…”
Is that hilarious, “anytime they lose they blame someone else..” RICH!
oh hail the Purple and White
There IS some irony there, yes...

Are you guys still talking about Nebraska?
First— let it go. The game was back in October. Second— Osborne can’t be held accountable for the actions of some anonymous, emotionally-drunk rubes. He’s the athletic director of a university— not overlord of the state. If any of those threatening e-mails could be traced to employees of Nebraska’s athletic department, THEN he would have to come out and make amends for something. As it is, it’s just a bunch of idle bellyaching. I don’t condone it, but it’s not NU’s fault.
That said… threats or no threats— Beebe publicly making a big stink about it, while using it as an excuse to withhold a trophy from a team/program innocent of said transgressions is pretty weak. Any Big 12 rep would have been perfectly safe coming to Lincoln, and they damn well know it.
We're not talking about the K-State-Nebraska game
Just in case you missed that part.

Well, clearly, it still burns some of you up.
Otherwise you wouldn’t be using a side-note issue that doesn’t concern KSU athletics as another excuse to lambaste NU.
If it makes you feel better— your basketball team is going to destroy ours.
It's not lambasting NU just for the sake of lambasting them(who really uses that word?)
This actually freakin happened, and it concerns Big 12 athletics. Why can’t we talk about it?

Don't worry about it
Anyone who asks “why are you even talking about this” clearly doesn’t have a decent argument against it.
Also, he clearly has a poor understanding of the news media if he thinks Beebe made a big stink about this. It’s pretty clear that a reporter found out nobody was on hand to make the presentation, wondered why, and happened on a story when he asked. Nobody said the Big 12 is withholding the trophy from Nebraska, they just didn’t send a representative up there on Friday to present it.

Beebe is bringing this on himself
by doing nothing to alleviate the national perception of shady conduct within the conference administration. The double-standards towards Nebraska are so egregious that neutral parties around the country are taking notice. You’d think for the sake of his reputation and the reputation of his conference that he would take steps to downplay the notion of any anti-Nebraska bias— but he doesn’t. On the contrary, he feeds the speculation by doing things like this (including straight-up pardoning Jerod-Eddie’s grabsack maneuver).
That’s no excuse for threatening the guy, but the way he’s handling this breakup is petty. Petty like dedicating a blog post to making blanket judgments towards another program/fanbase… again.
You Suck -
Regarding Jerod-Eddie – have you heard of Chad May and Christian Peter. Nubs complaining about grabbing in a pile is RICH, I tell ya!

Good find.
Just points out the hypocrisy of that “classy” fan base.

Well, as a Nebraska fan, you DO know "petty", that's for sure.
I’ve never seen a group of more petty, petulant whiners than you guys. The last 12 months (including the BS griping about the correctly added 0:01 in the B12 championship game) have successfully converted me from a person who cheered FOR Nebraska when they weren’t playing KSU to a person who cheers AGAINST them no matter WHO they’re playing.

How do you know
Beebe “publicly [made] a stink about it.” How do you know that? The news reports came from the Lincoln paper. Obviously a plant from NU. Why was this even broght up? NU did not have the North in the bag prior to the game. Missori got their trophy at a practice session two years ago, when the title was not determined until the last game. They have to engrave the trophy, you know that don’t you. Were we to ASSUME NU would beat CU? I heard no cries of disrespect from the Tigers. No, the issue is Tom Osborn’s condoning of death threats. You meet that question with “it doesn’t concern you – get over it.” Typical Husker logic. Good riddance. A larger share of your fanbase, compared to others, is simply deranged,
oh hail the Purple and White
Unfortunately, the Shuckers DO represent our conference for a short while longer,
so when they act like idiots, it makes perfect sense for us to point it out. And, yes, I only pointed out the moronic anger of the Nebraska fans — and Osborne’s pathetic response — because I’m jealous. And because your team’s overall record against the Cats in football is so good. And because I wish the Cats could have such an awesome, classy fanbase as the Shuckers. Yes, everyone hates you guys because they wish they cheered for the Shuckers.
