I mean, it would be one thing if they were doing anything creative.
But he literally just ran straight up the middle and 8 guys took shitty angles and he ran right past them all.

Well, if we bounce back like we did against aTm last year, that could be kinda fun.
One thing’s for sure — KU doesn’t have anybody as fast as Martinez.

'k...
Not much to play for now.
Let’s see if Sammy Lamur can get something going. This game ain’t Carson’s fault, but might as well see if we have anything to make the offense look decent.

Bracket serious question here:
Has Hartmann lost some speed after his ACL repair? Because he looks at least one gear slower to me.
The problem with Klein
is that he can’t get us into the right play. That’s Coffman’s strength. If we could fuse the two, we might start to have something to work with.
If Sams/Tuggle End Up Being Good
we have a backfield and some receivers. Doehr looks to be a serious weapon. Arthur Brown. Next year’s recruiting is all about O-Line and defense.

Honestly I've seen him chuck the ball.
I just don’t think he’s good at reading leading a receiver. That’s why I’m not a qb.
Sammy
has a throwing motion that doesn’t look like a 3rd grader throwing darts. Get Coffman the hell out of there.
Our team
has just been exposed. You don’t allow UCLA, Missouri State, Iowa State, and UCF to run up and down the field on you and expect us to turn it on against Nebraska. We still have Baylor, Oklahoma State, and others licking their chops.
I'm kinda glad we already played UCLA
They’d put at least 300 rushing on us now.
Just think: We had a week and a half to prepare and this is what we have to show for it.
Makes you realize just how truly bad our talent is.

Nebraska had 1.5 wks
to get yelled at and motivated by the “performance” against NDSU. The preparation time cannot speed guys up. Martinez was just a man among boys, honestly. He’s… he’s… what’s the word… he’s… REALLY REALLY FAST. Not Four-oh speed as Palmer put it (d’oh) but he is FAST.

Look at how much room he had to run through. He wasn’t even touched on some plays. UNL played better fundamental football and that is one reason he looked fast.

When I watched the replay...
it appeared to me his hand was stuck between the pads and helmet of the other tackler. He jerked his hand out and the quick dropping of his hand caught Martinez on the helmet. The “sped up” replay (faster than real time it was) made it look like a cheap shot, but I did several rewinds reviews of it and it was an accident.

Ditto this, BC...
I had work and prior engagements that required me to DVR and watch the game after its conclusion. I saw up until 7-0 with us heading in early 2nd Q before stopping and resuming later on. Wow did the last 40 minutes resemble NOTHING of the first 20. I yelled at the TV fewer times this game than UCF… 0 to 2. The numb out-of-body description is pretty accurate – it is the exact feeling I have when the Braves are eliminated when making the playoffs, the Packers lose in the playoffs, and similar to (but a totally different context from) when I got the phone call from my parents that my Grandpa was on his deathbed. I had seen it coming but out of sheer optimism and hope due to the utter disdain for the alternative of despair I had hope to win this game and confidence of keeping it close. FAIL… FAIL.
*Le sigh * However, at 4-1 with UNT and 6 more conference games from which to draw 2 total wins for bowl eligibility I still like out chances for meeting this season’s initial goals.

Yeah, we can still beat KU and UNT.
Both are horribly coached, even if they are road games.
And then maybe spring our usual upset of Texas. Or maybe Colorado. Dunno.
No, Baylor will eviscerate us.
RG3 could have 300 rushing yards, easy. Did you watch the KU game at all?
eh...
RG3 is much more likely to pass first. He can run, but it’s not really his preference. He torched us with his arm more. He certainly could have run more, but he just seems to have matured beyond that to where he uses his feet to keep a play alive.
As for Martinez…I don’t even want to think about what he’s going to do to our defense.

Good win? Yes.
Thanks for not rubbing it in. Enjoy your Big 12 championship, cause ain’t no one gonna stop ya this year.
Seriously, who's gonna beat them?
OSU and aTm have no defense. ISU is not that good. Mizzou has to go to Lincoln. UT and KU are gonna get run out of the stadium. And Colorado is coached by a clown. Maybe OU gets ‘em, but that’s about it.
Just bacause they hammered K-State???
Hell North Dakota State put a good scare into them. The conference season has just started.
NDSU has not played NU
this season.
If Martinez takes care of the ball like he did tonight, only OU has a real shot at beating them.

And if we have one injury to T-Mart, our entire offensive identity changes.

I wasnt trying to be mean
Just look at the cards for the next few years.
This is what I meant when I said you guys are sometimes delusional.
I read the post that suggested that BYU and ND would join the Big 12 and then it would be all rainbows and kittens and the Big 12 would be the bestest conference ever.
Would have posted there but it was a somewhat older post.
No one ever said it was going to happen.
My post on the subject is that the Big 12 needs to find a way to make it happen.
It was an ideal scenario, nothing more.
Yeah,
because KSU in a town of 50,000 (including 25k students), state with low population and TWO FBS football universities (KU may not win all that much, but they still take recruits and momentum), and no hope at CIC can really do anything about our conference? We’re in a BCS conference now, and sticking with this ship is really our best hope in the short term.
'Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.' --Jim Halpert
Yikes, what a game
I knew the KSU D was going to have issues, but holy crap, I never expected that. Combine the pre-game hype, getting crushed, and Smith getting hurt and this has to be the worst game I’ve seen in a long time (since I didn’t watch any of the TT game last year I can’t list it).
Anyway, KSU will probably go 7-5, and NU is going to crush and kill everything the rest of the season. Kinda what I expected going into this game.

Thanks, man.
Just wish I hadn’t spent an extra $80 to extend a few days in Kuala Lumpur because I knew I could count on the internet for this one.
Ah, well—so we’re miles behind NU and the defense looks Prince-bad. Still, it’s a single game and sometimes teams look a lot better or worse on any given Thursday than they really are. After getting blanked by Stanford 35-0, UCLA fans didn’t see 3-2 coming.
On the bright side, Lamur hit a couple of passes and seemed to know how to run the offense? Yeah, it was mop up time, but if he can add a little dynamism, roll the fuckin’ dice, Bill.
On another site, I listed what I thought to be Bill’s worst five coached/prepared for games. I think the gap between the two teams in this one was too great to add this one to the list. But it was an awful showing by the coaching staff. Bill lost me entirely when he went for a meaningless field goal when down by 28 and then punted the next time from the NU 40. Clear—the Cats were not going to come back. But for no apparent reason, he didn’t even take the .001% chance (which is infinitely greater than the .000% alternative that he took) on that happening.
There’s not much he could have done about the awful defense. But he was so damned slow on the trigger for any sort of offensive spark. It was clear that Carson couldn’t win a shoot out. Neither could Lamur, but hell—why not give it a try when only down two or three TDs. This was not UCF, where it was possible that 17 tough points could have won the game. I’m sure it’s not true, but to the outside listener, it seems like Bill gave up at the 14 minute point of the 3rd quarter.
