K-State No. 22 in First BCS Standings Released
Following a 5-1 start to the 2010 campaign, Kansas State checked in at No. 22 in the season's first Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.
The BCS ratings are calculated by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Coaches Poll and computer rankings.
K-State, which has collected non-conference wins over UCLA and UCF to go along with its 2-1 Big 12 record, checked in at No. 27 in this week's USA Today and AP polls, ranked 25th in the Harris Poll, and was ranked 19th according to the computer ratings.

Why not?
Florida State is a 5-1 with a blowout loss to a Top 25 team and they’re ranked.
We have the wrong name. Otherwise, our resume is Top 25-worthy right now, IMO. We can validate that by beating Baylor, of course, but the computers (which have less bias) are telling us we already should be in.
Besides, look at the waiting list for the polls. None of those teams are very good.
It's not just us, either.
Missouri and Oklahoma State both are terribly underrated in both polls, I think.
I'd agree...
I’d agree with that … same thing happens in basketball where teams are overrated then lose again and again (UT anyone)… while underrated teams are not given respect until they continue to win in the tournament.

Oh, DEFINITELY
ESPECIALLY on the basketball side of things. I think North Carolina had to lose 5 or 6 times before a 1- or 2-loss KSU finally passed them in the polls. I really wish they wouldn’t even DO polling until 5 weeks into the football season, and after New Year’s in basketball. THEN the polls might actually mean something.

Bingo
That is the correct solution – wait until 4-5 weeks into college football season before releasing the first poll. They won’t do it though because it makes too much sense.

Makes too much sense and too much money
Without the early polls, what would espn and all the internet sites use to fill air time and write about.
